CTF Board approves pilot project for sanctioning of string pin bowling centers

“Ladies and Gentlemen, today you have made history”. These were the words spoken by the Canadian Tenpin Federation (“CTF”) President, Brian McMaster, shortly after the CTF Board of Directors voted on June 5, 2016 to approve a pilot project for the sanctioning of string pin bowling centers in Alberta only, for sanctioned play during the 2016-2017 bowling season.

CTF will provide full services for such bowling centers, sanctioned leagues, sanctioned tournaments and registered participants who wish to join CTF. Registered participant fees will not exceed $30 CDN ($20 for national fees/up to $7 for local fees/ and up to $3 for provincial fees).

CTF honor score and special achievement awards will be available to all such registered participants. Averages for registered participants from tenpin string pin and/or 5-10 convertible centers will be recognized for CTF sanctioned events in Canada; however, at this time, will not be available for use in the United States in accordance with the Reciprocal Average Agreement in place between CTF and the United States Bowling Congress.

CTF will run the pilot project in Alberta only for the 2016-2017 season to determine if any changes to center certification specifications and/or playing rules are required. Upon completion of the 2016-2017 season and reviewing the pilot project, CTF will accept sanction applications from all tenpin string pin and/or 5-10 convertible centers across Canada.

CTF is compiling a contact list of all bowling centers in Canada that use the tenpin string machines and/or the 5-10 convertible machines. Proprietors or people who know of a center that may be interested in joining CTF for the 2017-2018 bowling season, may contact CTF at [email protected] For more information, please contact Stan May, Executive Director, at [email protected]
