2016 PABCON Senior & Super Senior Championships is underway

Jack Guay of Canada and Veronica Berumen of Mexico started the 5th PABCON Senior Championships with victory in men’s and women’s singles.

Guay, who made bowling history by rolling the first and second 300 game in the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cups in Hermosillo, Mexico (1994), and Sao Paulo, Brazil (1995), averaged 217.33 for six games to lead the 43-player men’s division with 1304.

Tony Santa of Puerto Rico took silver with 1285 and Guay’s teammate Joe Ciach got bronze with 1271.

In the 37 player women’s division, Berumen edged France Joubert of Canada for the gold medal by four pins, 1190 to 1186. Lisa Melendez of Puerto Rico was third with distant 1135. Pictured above from left, France Joubert, Veronica Berumen and Lisa Melendez.

2016PCSSJuanBurgillos2016PCSSFransuesaSacreJuan Burgillos (left) of Venezuela and Fransuesa Sacre (right) of Mexico captured the gold medals in men’s and women’s singles in the 3rd PABCON Super Senior Championships, which is being held concurrently with the Senior Champions.

Burgillos was the lone of 23 male bowler who had two three-game series over 600 in his 1254 victory, an average of 209 for six games. Edgar Gomez of Colombia was the only other bowler who averaged over 200 to earn the silver medal with 1214 (202.33). Jack Brace of Canada took the bronze with 1179.

On the Super Senior women’s side, Sacre led the 17-player field with 1135 and an average of 189.17. Sacre closed her set with a 226 game to beat out Nora Delgado of Colombia for the top spot by 23 pins. Delgado got silver with 1112 and Silvia Juarez of Uruguay received bronze with 1074.

All 120 bowlers will return to Sebelén Bowling Center on Wednesday, August 24, for the doubles event.

2016PCSeniorSuperSeniorChampionshipsLogoThe 5th Pan American Bowling Confederation Senior Championships and the 3rd PABCON Super Senior Championships will take place from August 21-28, 2016, at Sebelén Bowling Center, a 22-laner in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The seniors (maximum four men and four women per country; must be 50 years and older in the year of the championship) will bowl for medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Teams, All-Events and Masters, while the super seniors (maximum two men and two women age 60 and older) will compete for medals in Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Mixed Teams, All-Events and Masters.
