Ong, White conclude 5th Commonwealth Championship with victory in Masters

2011CTBCLogo_small.jpg Singapore's Remy Ong and Hayley White, England, won the third gold medal for their respective country when they concluded the 5th Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship with victory in men's and women's Masters Sunday at Sunway Megalanes in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ong, seeded third, defeated No. 1 seed Adrian Ang, Malaysia, in the men's title match, 209-161. On the women's side, White, seeded first, topped No. 3 Shayna Ng, Singapore, to wrap up the title, 217-192.

Duke earned $80,000 and moved into a tie for fourth place on the PBA Tour's list of all-time title-winners.

2011WTBALogo_small.jpgThe World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) has informed that an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) from the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) regarding the WTBA Presidium decision WTBA Presidium decision to withdraw the 2011 Women's World Championships from Malaysia has been dismissed. The CAS decision was issued on Tuesday, Feb. 22 resulting in another a financial fiasco for the MTBC and its 76-year-old MTBC president Ponkuchamy Satkuna Nathan.

Hess defeated top seed Jack Jurek of Lackawanna, N.Y., 225-214, to win his first career PBA Tour title. Hess defeated Mika Koivuniemi of Finland, 254-219, for the right to bowl Jurek. In the opening match, Koivuniemi eliminated Mike DeVaney of Murrieta, Calif., 230-206.
