Alex Aguiar wins $20,000 at Summer Mini-Eliminator

2011SummerMiniTop4_small.jpgThe Summer Mini-Eliminator at Sunset Station Strike Zone crowned its 19th champion as Alex Aguiar of N. Dartmouth, Ma. rolled a huge 258 game to claim the title and the $20,000 top prize. Mexican senior bowler Isaac Amkie and Brian Martinsen Sr. of Vass, N.C. (189 & under division) were tied for second place at 209, each earning $11,750, with Chris Martin of Westminster, S.C. (215 & under division) just one pin behind at 208 to finish fourth worth $10,000.

WTBA signs proclamation of mutual support with Special Olympics

2011WTBASpecialOlympicsPressCoference_small.jpgThe World Tenpin Bowling Association has become the first international federation to sign a proclamation of mutual support with Special Olympics International. The agreement includes a Special Olympics event to be held in conjunction with the 2011 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Women's Championships in late August in Hong Kong. In addition, the proclamation sets the stage for helping recruit coaches to train Special Olympics athletes.

The agreement includes a Special Olympics event to be held in conjunction with the 2011 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Women's Championships in late August in Hong Kong. The event, which will be organized by the Korea Professional Bowling Association, will be held from Aug. 21-26 at Daejeon World Cup Bowling Center in Deajeon, Korea. The addition of the event brings the total number of tournaments on the 2011 World Bowling Tour Schedule to eight.
