Virgin Islands Bowling Federation announces top qualifiers

Wendell Powell and Terri Depka (pictured) were awarded the titles of V.I. Male and Female Bowlers of the Year by the V.I. Bowling Federation. 2011 top bowlers, Depka and Charles Richards, will represent the Virgin Islands at the QubicaAMF World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa in November.

20111019IBC2012PressConference_small.jpgOn a press conference on Wednesday Oct. 19th, Kyohei Akagi, chairman of the organizing committee informed, has announced that the International Bowling Championship 2012 supported by DHC, which will be part of the 2012 World Bowling Tour, will offer total prize fund of 30 million Yen or approx. 375,000 U.S. Dollars, the second-highest prize fund in the sport of tenpin bowling. The men's and women's champion each will receive $75,000.

Bowling's U.S. Women's Open and the USBC Queens are two of the biggest women's only events in the world and the additions bring the World Bowling Tour schedule to 14 events for 2012. The Queens is scheduled for April 19-24 in Euless, Texas and the U.S. Women's Open will take place in Reno, Nev. from June 21-27.
