Kulick, Koivuniemi lead World Bowling Tour rankings after five events

A tightly packed field at the top of the women's rankings finds Kelly Kulick (r.) of the United States now in the lead with 207 points. Koivuniemi still leads the men's rankings with 312 points, but Mike Fagan of the United States is close behind.

Pete Weber wins record fifth U.S. Open to surpass father, Don Carter

36-time PBA Tour champion calls this one “his greatest title ever”

201112PBA12PeteWeber3_small.jpgPete Weber (pictured) of St. Ann, Mo., became the most successful bowler in U.S Open history Sunday, winning the most challenging major title in bowling for a record fifth time at Brunswick Zone-Carolier with a strike on his final ball in the 10th frame to nip top qualifier Mike Fagan of Dallas, 215-214. In winning the title, Weber broke a tie with his late father, PBA legend Dick Weber, and the late Don Carter, who each won the forerunner to the U.S. Open - the BPAA All Star - four times.

Jones, seeded first, flew past fellow PBA champion Mika Koivuniemi, Finland, 290-204, to wrap up the men's title. Women's No. 2 seed Tan defeated top seed Dayang Khairuniza, Malaysia, 218-179, for the biggest payday in her career.

The top three players  in each division advanced to the TV finals. Missy Parkin, United States, earned the No. 4 seed for the women's stepladder finals in a single-game shoot-out match.
