But make no mistake, International Bowl Expo doesn't just happen, it is a basketball-style full court press for 50 weeks by the entire staff at the Bowling Proprietors Association of America headquarters in Arlington, Texas. For this year's Bowl Expo in Orlando, June 21-26, the BPAA expects slightly more than 200 exhibitors who set up 900 exhibit booths in order to entertain and hopefully entice more than 5,000 attendees.

International Bowl Expo 2007 - a smashing success

By Joe Lyou (Tenpin Slants)

2007BowlExpoLogo_mini.jpg By all accounts, International Bowl Expo 2007 was a smashing success. Staged annually by the BPAA (Bowling Proprietors' Assn. of America), which is celebrating its 75th (diamond) anniversary this year, Bowl Expo was held June 23-28 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Casino & Convention Center. Hall of Fame writer Dick Evans reports that 5,538 individuals attended the '07 Bowl Expo. That's a remarkable 6% increase over last year and included proprietors, bowlers and writers from several foreign countries.

75th BPAA Convention may have been No. 1 By Dick Evans

ColumnistDickEvans_small.jpg A record 5,538 signed up for the 75th Bowling Proprietors Association of America Convention that had something for everybody. That was up six percent over 2006, which was eye opening since the BPAA convention traditionally shows a slight decrease its second straight year in Las Vegas. If Quarterback Peyton Manning was the cornerstone to the Colts' Super Bowl victory, then Executive Director John Berglund was the foundation of the six-day BPAA convention that featured a lot of scoring plays.

Bowl Expo attendees learn competition remains important as entertainment aspects grow

IBE2007Logo_small.jpg While all who attended International Bowl Expo 2007 already knew that more people were choosing bowling as a form of entertainment, they all agreed that bowling as a competitive sport remains vital to the industry's success. From United States Bowling Congress and Bowling Proprietors Association of America leaders to others in the industry, in small groups and large, that message came across loud and clear. And all those leaving the Mandalay Bay Convention Center clearly understood that they will play a vital role in helping bowling return to its roots as a recognized sport.
