USBC Youth Open Championships underway in Indianapolis

2012USBCYouthOpenLogo_small.jpgThe United States Bowling Congress Youth Open Championships got underway Thursday at Expo Bowl in Indianapolis. The event runs July 12-14, 19-23 and 27-28. The non-qualifying tournament is patterned after the USBC Open Championships and USBC Women's Championships. Youth bowlers compete in Team (four players), Doubles, Singles and All-events.

Detroit area to host 2013 North Pointe Junior Gold and USBC Youth Open Championships

USBCYouthLogo_small.jpgThe Detroit area will play host to bowling's biggest youth tournaments in 2013, the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships and the USBC Youth Open Championships. The North Pointe Junior Gold Championships will take place at Sunnybrook Lanes and Sterling Lanes, both in Sterling Heights, Mich., and AMF Rose Bowl in Roseville, Mich., from July 13-19, 2013. Sterling Lanes will be the site for the USBC Youth Open Championships, scheduled for July 11-28, 2013.

2011 USBC Youth Open records first 800 series, perfect games

More than 2,000 USBC Youth members participated in the tournament

2011USBCYOTristanMusick_small.jpgA record-setting performance by Tristan Musick (pictured left) highlighted the 2011 United States Bowling Congress Youth Open, which wrapped up competition on Sunday at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas. Musick, of Olathe, Kan., who was competing in his first USBC Youth Open, had games 256, 248 and 299 for an 803 series during singles competition on July 8. It was the first 800 series rolled in the history of the USBC Youth Open, which started in 2007. More than 2,000 USBC Youth members participated in the tournament.

Indianapolis will host USBC Junior Gold and USBC Youth Open in 2012

Each tournament will offer more than $100,000 in scholarships

USBCYouthLogo_small.jpgThe biggest youth bowling tournaments in the nation, the USBC Junior Gold Championships and the USBC Youth Open, will return to Indianapolis in 2012. Woodland Bowl, Western Bowl and Expo Bowl will be the host centers for Junior Gold with the semifinals and finals to be contested at Woodland Bowl. Expo Bowl will be the site of the Youth Open. The three centers played host to the events in 2009 and 2010.

USBC Youth Open concludes and an all-girls team takes the team title

More than 2,000 youth bowlers participated in the USBC Youth Open, sponsored by Pepsi, which was held at Expo Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind. The non-qualifying tournament is patterned after the USBC Open Championships and USBC Women’s Championships. Youth bowlers competed in team (four players), doubles, singles and all-events during the 11 days of competition.

Winners emerge at inaugural USBC Youth Open Championships

2007USBCYOC_small.jpg When the Junior Team USA Boys entered the inaugural United States Bowling Congress Youth Open Championships, they did so because it was their lone chance to compete together as a team. Now, they are part of the event's first group of champions. Tim Pfeifer shot a 656 series to lead the Junior Team USA Boys to the Division 1 Team title with 2,480 at AMF Thruway Lanes in Buffalo, N.Y. Josh Blanchard added 651, Matt O'Grady shot 648 and Kyle Bischoff contributed 525.

Jersey City bowlers enjoy USBC Youth Open Championships

2007USBCYOCMichaelRayes_small.jpg For almost a year, dozens of bowlers from Hudson Lanes in Jersey City, N.J., lived in anticipated for their trip to the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Youth Open Championships. The 40 bowlers formed 10 teams, all wearing matching shirts, to compete at AMF Thruway Lanes on Sunday morning in the inaugural Youth Open Championships, which began Friday and continues through July 21. "For the past year, our whole league has been focused on coming to this tournament," said 16-year-old Michael Rayes.

More than 1,600 athletes are expected to compete in the nine-day tournament, modeled after the USBC Open and Women's Championships.

More than 1,600 athletes are expected to compete in the nine-day tournament, modeled after the USBC Open and Women's Championships. Bowlers will take part in singles, doubles and four-player team competition which is open to all USBC Youth members.

The USBC Youth Open Championships will be conducted in Buffalo, N.Y., starting July 13 at AMF Thruway Lanes. The event is conducted alongside the USBC Junior Gold Championships and Pepsi USBC Youth Championships.
