Coaching seminar in El Salvador a huge success

20091026ClinicElSalvador_small.jpgParticipants from nineteen countries in the American zone (pictured) met for a coaching seminar sponsored by the Olympic Committee of El Salvador and Kegel October 26-30. The five-day event covered a broad range of topics designed to educate and aid coaches with the details of running their teams. This program is part of an ongoing mission to develop and support the coaches and teams of PABCON in the sport of bowling.

The Next Revolution hits Houston

The 8-time champion at the USBC Open Championships and PBA charter member and a center full of bowling fans got their first up-close look at Australian sensation Jason Belmonte (r.) and his unique two-handed bowling style.

International Training and Research Center will benefit all of bowling

As such, it will be an invaluable resource to entities such as the USBC Equipment Specifications and Certifications department, Team USA, Junior Team USA and international bowling teams from World Tenpin Bowling Association countries; however, the benefits of the ITRC will extend far beyond the groups listed above.

Brunswick to conduct a series of seminars all over Europe in November

Brunswick has recognized this and put together a series of seminars held all over Europe this month to address this knowledge area. "It is a unique opportunity to get a ball dynamics expert and a lane pattern expert in the same room running a seminar," said Brunswick staffer Zara Giles (nee Glover), a multiple World and European champion.

The Next Revolution rolls into Chicago

20091101TNRJasonBelmonte_small.jpgBowling fans in the Chicago area have seen Australia's two-handed bowling sensation Jason Belmonte (pictured) in action before, but this weekend, they got to see him up close and personal as The Next Revolution, a United States Bowling Congress event, rolled through town Sunday. More than 100 bowlers and fans made it out to Brunswick Zone Hawthorn for the event, which featured two hours of instruction, a question and answer session, autographs and a raffle to benefit The Bowling Foundation, the charitable arm of bowling.

Paeng's dad, coach Angel Nepomuceno, dies at 81

AngelandPaengNepomuceno2_small.jpgAngel "Pappy" Nepomuceno (on the left with Paeng after his fourth victory in the Bowling World Cup) , the winningest coach in Philippine bowling history and father of six-time world champion Paeng, died last Saturday (October 31) due to a lingering illness. He was 81 years old. Under Pappy's coaching, Paeng bagged six world titles in three different decades and 119 other tournament crowns and set three Guinness Book of World Records, which have remained unbroken.

The Next Revolution kicks off in Detroit

The event was designed to give coaches and bowling enthusiasts a closer look at the unique two-handed style that is sweeping the globe.

USBC Coaching to begin offering classes on how to coach two-handed bowlers

USBCCoachingLogo.jpgAs two-handed bowling continues to grow in popularity and more bowlers attempt to learn the technique, there will be a greater demand for coaches who are able to help those players hone their skills. After extensive research of the unique style, the coaches at the United States Bowling Congress are ready to teach other coaches how to address and service the needs of two-handed bowlers. In the coming weeks, USBC Coaching will run three classes in different regions of the country to help accomplish this goal.

Gold Level Coach Yokobosky wins his first PBA Regional title By Joan Taylor

USBCGoldCoachKenYokobosky_small.jpgThe word "leisure" conjures up thoughts of relaxation in a stress-free environment. To Kenny Yokobosky, Fredon, it means something entirely different. "I won my first Junior Bowlers Tour (JBT) tournament at Leisure Lanes in Fairfield when I was about 16 years old. And now (at age 43), I just won my first Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Regional tournament at Leisure Lanes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania!" It was a long time coming, and you would think that this Gold Level Certified coach would have easily won many regional titles by now.

Two-handed bowler Jason Belmonte takes his show on the road

The Next Revolution was created to give coaches and bowling fans a closer look at the unique two-handed style that is sweeping the globe, while also giving participants a chance to revolutionize their own games with help from some of the sport's biggest stars.

Team USA to make head coach transition in 2010

USBCGoldCoachJeriEdwards_small.jpg2008USBCRodRoss3_small.jpgRod Ross (l.) has been named Team USA head coach effective January 2010 by United States Bowling Congress High-Performance Director David Garber. Ross will take over for Jeri Edwards (r.), who will continue to coach the team through the end of the year. Ross will officially take over as head coach a few weeks before the grand opening of the International Training and Research Center on Jan. 25, 2010.

Brunswick to provide equipment for International Training and Research Center

Whether you're competing in the world's most prestigious bowling tournament – or during league night at the local bowling center – bowlers want to know: Where is the best place to start your approach on the bowling lane? What's the most advantageous amount of foot pressure? How should you grip the ball for the most effective results? The search for these answers is now underway, as Brunswick Bowling is providing bowling lanes and equipment for the International Training and Research Center that will become part of the International Bowling Campus in Arlington, Texas.

Ininns, a Silver International Coach and USBC Bronze-level Instructor, will serve as clinic host and be joined by Rod Ross (r.) – lead presenter and Head Coach of the International Training and Research Center, Del Ballard Jr. and Bill Hoffman.

Bill Hall moves his coaching and consulting operation to San Antonio, Texas

BillHallNextLevelBowling_small.jpgOne of the premier bowling coaches in the world is moving his home base to Texas. In August, former PBA ball driller, tour rep and more recently international coach Bill Hall will move his coaching and consulting operation into Jamie Brooks' Bandera Super Bowl in San Antonio. Hall's Bowling Schools will include lessons for individuals and groups of all ages and abilities. A regularly scheduled 3-4 day clinic that will be operated on a monthly or bi-monthly basis will be announced in the near future.

The Buffa's invite everyone to visit Studio Buffa and the city of Montreal

From Bowl Expo in Las Vegas (pictured) to Europe, where Mark played in the Storm San Marino Open and then a team tournament in Milan, and then back to Montreal, Canada, where the duo hosted a group from Spain in the Buffa training center.

Nepomuceno conducts seminars in Singapore, Philippines and Hong Kong

NepomucenoClinicHKG2009_small.jpgSix-time World Champion Paeng Nepomuceno added to his reputation as USBC's busiest coach, as he conducted coaching seminars in three countries - Singapore, Philippines and Hong Kong - during the first half of the year 2009. Paeng started with a Level One and Bronze Level seminar at Chevrons Bowling Center in Singapore from March 27-29. He then held a Silver Conference in the Philippines from June 15-17 and the third seminar was a Level One and Bronze Level seminar held at Mei Foo Bowling World in Hong Kong (pictured left) last July 13-15.

Seventeen coaches earn USBC Bronze certification at conference in Poland

20090529MitsimgasClinic1_small.jpgThe list of USBC Bronze coaches grew by 17 names thanks to a conference produced by USBC Gold coach and Coaching Instructor Costas Mitsingas in Lotz, Poland, May 27-29. At the end of those three days, all 17 conference participants were able to display adequate content mastery through written and practical examinations to warrant being awarded USBC Bronze certification.

Excitement expressed as USBC Coaches Summit concludes in Las Vegas

2009IBEUSBCCoachesSummit3_small.jpgThe 2009 USBC Coaches Summit concluded Tuesday afternoon at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino Convention Center, ending a two-day session of presentations and dialogue between some of bowling's top minds in coaching, research and elite-athlete training. "I brag about my staff all the time because I think it truly is made up of some of the best minds the sport of bowling has to offer," USBC High Performance Director David Garber said.

USBC Coaches Summit 2009 kicks off in Las Vegas

2009IBEUSBCCoachesSummit2_small.jpgOn Monday, hundreds of certified coaches, pro shop operators and bowling industry leaders congregated at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center to take part in the opening day of the 2009 USBC Coaches Summit, which helps kick off International Bowl Expo 2009. Monday's schedule of presentations spanned more than 10 hours, covering topics such as the mental game, training coaches to match bowling balls to the needs of individual bowlers, status updates on the construction of the International Training and Research Center, and much more.
