Both players had to sit and wait for the results from the final ranking event, the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, as neither Australia nor Korea was eligible to participate. Opposite to Eun-Jung, who led the women's division by a wide margin, it was a nail-biting time for Belmonte, who finally beat out Ryan Lalisang, Indonesia, for the men's title by a single point.

After his victory in the Philippine Open and a second-place finish in the Emir's Cup in Qatar, Wu Siu Hong (pictured left) from Hong Kong, has positioned himself atop the men's leaderboard in the 2007 Asian Bowling Federation ranking. The right-hander, who won the ranking twice (2001, 2003), has accumulated 214 points to overtake previous leader Jason Belmonte, Australia, by nine points. On the women's side, Kim Eun Jung from Korea held onto the lead with 229 points.
