The Asian Bowling Federation Tour has established a comprehensive new strategic alliance with international sports marketing agency Wharf House, under which Wharf House has been appointed to exclusively market the worldwide marketing and media rights for the ABF Tour, including the ABF Tour's flagship event, the Tournament of Champions. The 3-year appointment, which starts immediately, will also enable the ABF Tour to benefit from a detailed technical analysis, by Wharf House, of its existing sporting and commercial strategies.
Andrew Frawley (l.), Australia, and Tang Joh Six (r.), Malaysia, ended the 2008 season of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour with victory in the men's and women's Tournament of Champions Sunday at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. In a high-class men's championship match, Frawley topped Biboy Rivera, Philippines, 249-235, to win the prestigious title and the $20,000 top prize. Chester King (left), Philippines, and Sharon Limansantoso, Indonesia, set the pace in the 2008 ABF Tour Tournament of Champions after the first 8-game block Friday at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. King felled 1690 pins over eight games and won six of his eight matches (10 pins bonus per win) to lead the men's field with a score of 1750. Mere two pins behind to sit in second place was King's compatriot Biboy Rivera with 1748. On the women's side, Sharon Limansantoso beat out her team mate Tannya Roumimper for the top spot by 11 pins, 1762 to 1751.
2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour point ranking leaders Vanessa Fung (pictured left), Hong Kong and Shaker Al-Hassan (right) lead the field of 16 men and 16 women into the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions January 16-18 at Jaya Ancol Bowling Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 32 players will compete for total prize fund of USD103,000 - $62,000 for the men and $41,000 for the women. The champions will walk away with $20,000 and $10,000, respectively. 
Philippine Open Masters champion Benshir Layoso and Apple Posadas posted bog scores to win the fifth stop of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour at SM Mall of Asia Bowling Center in Pasay City, Philippines. Layoso, who sealed the victory in the Open Saturday with back-to-back 260s, rolled games of 238, 278 and 277 in his first three rounds and topped compatriot Chester King in the title match, 239-234. Posadas saved her best for the last game, when she flew past fellow countrywoman Lovella Catalan, 258-199, to win the women's title. 
Hong Kong Open Masters champion Bandar Al-Shafi (left) of Qatar defeated Oh Young Ki, Korea, 235-226, in the title match of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Hong Kong leg to win his second title within two days at Hong Kong Bowling City in Hong Kong, China. On the women's side, Chen Dongdong (right) from China held off local favorite Vanessa Fung, Hong Kong, 245-214, to secure the women's title. The event was the fourth leg of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour. 
Ryan Lalisang of Indonesia defeated Hussain Al-Suwaidi, 217-204, in the title match of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Kuwait leg, to successfully defend his title at Cozmo Bowling Center in Kuwait City. In the semi-final, Lalisang eliminated Kuwait Open champion Jason Belmonte, Australia, in a re-match of last year's final, 222-208. In the other semi-final, Al-Suwaidi sidelined Kuwaiti Khaled Al-Dubyyan, 207-204. The fourth stop of the ABF Tour will be held in Hong Kong on June 8. 
After finishing 1, 2 in the 2nd Kingdom International Open winner Shaker Al-Hassan (left) and runner-up Naif Oqab met for a re-match in the finals of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour Saudi Arabia leg once again at Universal Bowling Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Al-Hassan, who won the Open and $30,000, 224-208, remained undefeated as he flew past his compatriot, 245-215, to win the title and 75 ranking points, but no prize money.
Defending champion Somjed Kusonpithak, Thailand, won back-to-back Asian Bowling Federation Tour titles in Thailand when he defeated fellow-countryman Pasut Punsanthaveekul in the men's title match of the 2008 season opener, 201-192. Zhang Yun Hong, China, captured her first career victory at S.F. Strike Bowl in Ngamwongwan, Thailand, with a 199-168 win over 2007 Asian and ABF Tour Ranking champion Kim Eun Jung, Korea.
The 2007 Asian Bowling Federation Tour consisted of six tournaments in Kuwait, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong. The legs in the Arabic countries, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia were for men only. Ryan Lalisang (l.), Indonesia, and Kim Eun Jung (r.), Korea, won the 2007 men's and women's ABF Tour rankings by a landslide. The top 16 men and the top 16 women in the 2007 ABF Tour rankings qualified for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions. 
Asian Games champion Ryan Lalisang from Indonesia and Asia's No. 1 woman, Kim Eun Jung, Korea, earned the men's and women's titles in the final 2007 Asian Bowling Federation Tour leg at Hong Kong Bowling City in Hong Kong, China. In a low-scoring men's title match, Lalisang defeated Yannaphon Larp-apharat, Thailand, 163-149. Kim, who survived a 157-155 opening match against Lily Suhaimi, Indonesia, topped Bernice Lim, Singapore, in the women's title match, 200-165. 
Biboy Rivera (l.), Philippines and Lai Kin Ngoh (r.), Malaysia, flew past their opponents to cruise to victory in the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Indonesia leg, the fifth stop of the ABF Tour in the year 2007. Rivera defeated Wu Siu Hong, Hong Kong, 209-168 to win his first career ABF Tour title, while KN topped 2006 Asian ranking leader Putty Armein, Indonesia, 216-188, to win the Indonesia leg for the second time after 2005.
Oh Young Ki, Korea, and Tang Joh Six, Malaysia, won their four matches in single-elimination match play to claim the men's and women's title at the fourth stop of the 2007 Asian Bowling Federation Tour in Pasay City, Philippines. Oh (l.) saved his best for the last firing the high game of the event to defeat Asian Games champion Ryan Lalisang, 257-233. On the women's side, Six (r.) topped local favorite Marjo Reyes, 198-170. 
Hussain Al Suwaidi (pictured with Saudi Arabia Bowling Federation President Ibrahim Al-Juraifani) flew past Fadhel Al Mousawi, Kuwait, 205-139, in the championship match to cruise to victory in the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Saudi Arabia leg at Universal Bowling Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Third and fourth place went to local bowlers Mohammed Al Saud and Yousef Akbar. 
Somjed Kusonpithak, Thailand, defeated his compatriot Kritchawat Jampakao, by two pins, 187-185, while Kim Young Ju, Korea, won the women's championship match against Angkana Netrviseth, Thailand, by the closest possible margin, 203-202, en route to capture the titles in the 2007 Asian Bowling Federation Tour Thailand leg at SF Strike Bowl in Bangkok, Thailand.
