It is now up to the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) to name their best bowlers for the Doha Asiad (Dec 1-15) and Shalin certainly deserves to be considered for selection. The AsiaComm chief, Damien Kelly, said: "We certainly evaluate every athlete and ensure that only the best represents the country in Doha."

In a match between two two-handers, Belmonte topped Osku Palermaa, Finland, 238-233. Zulkifli won her third consecutive international title in ten days and the second championship match against team mate Esther Cheah with a 222-184 victory.

In the Girls Division, Rachelle Flynn came back from a 2-0 deficit narrowly taking the title with a 197-193 in the decider.

In the men's finals, No. 1 seeded Larpapharat made quick work of Kritchawat Jampakhao, 202-194. Zulkifli, the No. 2 seed, beat defending champion Esther Cheah in the deciding contest, 241-208.

9th Asian School Tenpin Bowling Championships

The 9th Asian School Tenpin Bowling Championships at SF Strike Bowl Ngam Wongsewan in Bangkok, Thailand, were concluded with the Masters finals. Michael Tsang, Hong Kong, and Wang Ting-Wen, Chinese Taipei, won the titles in the Boys and Girls Division. 71 boys and 45 girls 11 countries competed for medals in Singles, Doubles Teams, All Events and Masters. Host country Thailand led the field in the medal tally with 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal, all won by the boys team.

The women's final was an all-Malaysian affair with top seeded Wendy Chai successfully defending her title against rising star Zandra Aziela.

Lehtonen, the No. 3 seed, ousted Tyrone Ongpauco, Philippines, in the opening match of the 4-player stepladder finale, 244-222, then took care of second-seeded Zulmazran Zulkifli, Malaysia, in the semi-final, 212-205.

Liew's 198-166 victory over compatriot Zaid Izlan proved to be an easier task than to beat Izlan in the semis, where he shot a 290 to advance to the title match. Asbaty used two doubles to defeat Choy Poh Lai, Malaysia, in the women's final, 202-172.

The well respected and patronized Werribee Youth Cup was held at Werribee Superbowl on the 25th and 26th March 2006. 55 youth males and 32 youth females managed the trip to the newly renovated centre in Melbourne's western suburbs. Defending champions Glen Loader (Vic) and Louise Ingoe (SA) won the boy's and girl's titles.

The All-Japan Bowling Championships, supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan Sports Association, Japanese Olympic Committee and Japan Association of Registered Bowling Alleys, are biggest event in amateur bowling in Japan. 45 associations with 563 players - 342 men and 221 women - participated in the 43rd annual edition from March 18-21 in Tokyo and Yokohama.

The 28-year-old bowling star, who had featured in five previous editions and won the 2001 event, said the organiser (Matchroom Sports) was interested to invite her for the tournament but was told that she was still under suspension.
