Korea (women) and Chinese Taipei (men) claim Team gold at East Asian Pacific Championship

Sim Ui Jin (KOR) and Yang Nien-Hua (TPE) become All Events champions

2010EAPCWomenTeamKorea_small.jpgThe women from Korea (pictured) and the Chinese Taipei men claimed the gold medals in the five-player team event in the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship Saturday at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam. In the men's playoffs, Chinese Taipei's Chou Yen-Chih fired the first 300 game of the championships. Sim Ui Jin, Korea, and Yang Nien-Hua, Chinese Taipei, earned the coveted All Events titles. The top 8 women and the top 16 men advance to the Masters finals, which will conclude the championships on Sunday.

Korea's Lee Mi Ryung, Lee Seung Ree and Sim Ui-Jin claimed the title from top seed, while fourth seeded Reynaldo Zialcita, Manny Tagle and Jay Leon Guerrero secured the victory in a one-ball roll-off.

Korean women and Guam men lead Trios preliminaries after the first block

2010EAPCLogo_small.jpg Korea's Lee Mi Ryung, Lee Seung Ree and Sim Ui-Jin and Reynaldo Zialcita, Manny Tagle and Jay Leon Guerrero of the host country Guam took the lead in the women's and men's Trios event in the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship after the first 3-game block on Friday morning. Sim, who has won silver in Singles and Doubles thus far, carried her team with a huge 784 series to a 1977 series (219.67 ave.). Zialcita led the Guam trio with the men's best 714 series to a 1941 total (215.78). The second block and the playoffs will follow on Saturday.

2010EAPCWomenDoublesKorea_small.jpgThe Korea women followed in the footprints of the Korean men en route to capture the title in women's Doubles in the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship Thursday at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam. In an all-Korean championship match, top seeded Kim Hyun Mi and Park Ju Young (pictured) easily defeated their team mates Choi Hae Yun and Sim Ui Jin, 478-359, to cruise to the title. Singles champion Park claimed her second gold medal of the championships while Sim got her second silver medal.

Cha Im Ho, Kim Dong Gyun win second gold for Korea at EAP Championship

Fly past Chinese Taipei to earn Men's Doubles title

2010EAPCMenDoublesKorea_small.jpgTop seeded Cha Im Ho and Kim Dong Gyun from Korea (pictured) flew past No. 2 seed, Yang Nien-Hua and Hung Kun-Yi, Chinese Taipei, 468-333, to win the gold medal in Men's Doubles in the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship Thursday at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam. It was the second gold medal in the championships for Korea after the women's Singles yesterday. Yang, who won the gold medal in men's Singles, and Hung earned the silver medal, while Japan and Guam shared the bronze medal.

Chinese Taipei men win Singles gold and silver at East Asian Pacific Championship

Top seeds Tagle, Choi share the bronze medal

2010EAPCLogo_small.jpg In an all-Chinese Taipei affair, Yang Nien-Hua, seeded third, defeated No. 4 seed, Cheng Hsing-Chao, 226-210, to win the gold medal in men's Singles at the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship in Tamuning, Guam. The No. 1 and No. 2 seed after the preliminaries went to local bowler Manny Tagle and Choi Io Fai, Macau, who led the 36-player field with 1307 and 1251, resp. In the semifinals, Tagle fell to Cheng, 168-186, while Choi was eliminated by Yang, 161-190. Cheng earned the silver medal and Tagle and Choi shared the bronze.

Korean women dominate Singles event at East Asian Pacific Championship

The Korean women dominated the event finishing the preliminaries in first, second, third, fifth and sixth place. In the championship match, Park defeated team mate Sim Ui Jin, 231-209, to claim the first gold medal of the championships.

24th East Asian Pacific Championship declared open in Tamuning, Guam

The opening ceremony on Tuesday started with a bang as Honorary President and co-founder Kyohei Akagi, Japan (l.), announced during his address that tenpin bowling will be included in the 6th East Asian Games 2013. The competition will kick off Wednesday with the women's and men's Singles.

De La Salle University - Taft, University Teknologi Mara win Men's and Women's Division Cup

Players competed for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, 4-player Team, All Events (18 games), and Masters. The team from the Universiti Teknologi Mara (pictured) beat out the team from De La Salle University - Taft by 35 points to win the Overall Cup.

Cheng Chao Yu, Sin Li Jane win 43rd Singapore International Open from top seed

In the men's title match Cheng defeated No. 3 seed Ryan Lalisang, Indonesia, 217-197, to earn the 25,000 Singapore Dollars top prize. The 18-year-old Malaysian won her first major international title and S$5,000 with a 213-177 victory over Li Hsiao Ping, Chinese Taipei.

Phoemphun Yakasem, Thailand (238), Travis Tay, Singapore (235) and Tommy Andre, Indonesia (235) finished atop the leaderboard in the one-game Desperado Squad to grab the lasts three spots for the men's finals.

Al-Hassan defeated No. 2 Adrian Ang, Malaysia, in the men's final, 234-204, to pocket the $12,000 top prize.

Starting from scratch, Aziela (pictured) won six of her eight matches and tied one to earn the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals with 1883 pinfall total. The 16 men have to bowl another 8 games on Thursday to determine the four finalists. The men's champion will pocket $12,000, while the women's champion will receive $4,500.
