Team USA's
John Janawicz and
Shannon O'Keefe swept the gold medals in singles Wednesday at the 2008 Pan American Bowling Confederation Championship of the Champions. Janawicz dominated the field, totaling 3,538 for 16 games, an average of 221, and won the title by more than 240 pins.
Arturo Hernandez, Venezuela, took the silver with 3,296 and
Mark Buffa of Canada won the bronze with 3,248. O'Keefe had a much closer victory, shooting 3,305 to edge Puerto Rico's
Jessica Santiago by just 14 pins. Venezuela's
Alicia Marcano took the bronze with 3,271.
The final day of the 2012 PABCON Champion of Champions belonged to countries from South America. Venezuela's Amleto Monacelli and Karen Marcano (left) defeated Team USA, 493-409, to win the Mixed Doubles Masters. while Colombia's Paola Gomez and her brother, Andres Gomez (right), took the Women's and Men's Masters gold medals.
Team USA's Liz Johnson and Steve Smith (pictured) claimed three more gold medals Friday at the 2012 Pan American Bowling Confederation Champion of Champions, taking home the Mixed Doubles, National All-Events and Women's All-Events titles.
Johnson and Smith totaled 2,826 for six games to take the top spot in Mixed Doubles at the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Fla. Brazil's Marcelo Suartz finished on top of the Men's All-Events standings with 4,285 (238.06 avg.)

Suartz and Johnson maintained their round one lead en route to win the first gold medal of the championships with 2928 (244.00 average) and 2809 (234.08), respectively. Action shifts to Mixed Doubles competition on Friday.

Suartz toppled 1,457 pins on the short oil pattern, an average of 242.83 for six games, while Johnson had 1337 (222.83). Singles competition continues on Thursday with round two. 
Team USA's Steve Smith (pictured) of San Diego and Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, N.Y., will represent the United States in the Pan American Bowling Confederation Champion of Champions event starting Wednesday. The four-day tournament takes place May 9-12 at the Kegel Training Center in Babson Park, Fla. and will serve as the qualifying event for the 2013 World Games. The PABCON Champion of Champions Tournament 2012 will be held from May 8-12 at the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Florida. The CoC gets underway Monday with two Open Practice sessions, the Lane Play/Topography Presentation and an Optional Sweeper.The tournament features one man and one woman from 19 of the 27 PABCON member federations. The event will also serve as a qualifying event for the 2013 World Games to be held in Cali, Colombia. 
Team USA waited until the last discipline to win its first gold medal and to end the PABCON Championship of the Champions with victory in Team Masters. In the title match Brenda Edwards and John Janawicz (pictured left) defeated Patricia De Faria and Luis Olivo, Venezuela, two-games-to-one. Olivo and Aseret Zetteralso earned the first gold medals for Venezuela and Mexico when they won the men's and women's Masters titles Thursday at Metrobowl in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Rocio Restrepo (l.) and Manuel Otalora (r.) from Colombia and Sofia Granda and Andres Herrera from the host country of Guatemala dominated the third day of competition in the PABCON Championship of the Champions 2010 at Metrobowl in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The Colombians teamed to win the gold medal in Mixed Doubles and Country All Events. Otalora earned his third gold in men's All Events, while Granda won her second in women's All Events. 
Sofia Granda (l.), Guatemala and Frankie Colon (r.), Puerto Rico both posted the highest 8-game block on short oil en route to start the PABCON Championship of the Champions 2010 with victory in Singles. Granda, who rolled a 1576 series Monday in the first block on long oil, added 1825 on short to claim the women's gold medal with 3401 16-game total and an average of 212.56. Colon closed out his 1835 series on short with 770 to cruise to the men's title with 3512 (219.50).
After struggling through a long, sleepless night thanks to a stomach bug, Team USA's Shannon O'Keefe (l.) wasn't sure what to expect in the first Round of singles at the 2008 Pan American Bowling Confederation Championship of the Champions. As it turns out, her illness didn't slow her down Tuesday as she took the lead at the halfway point of the singles event at Galaxy Bowling with 1,667 eight games total. Fellow Team USA member John Janawicz (r.) of Winter Haven, Fla., leads the men with 1,694.
The 2008 Pan American Bowling Confederation Championship of the Champions kicked off Monday night with the opening ceremonies at Galaxy Bowling in San Salvador, El Salvador. "This is a proud moment for El Salvador," said PABCON President Jose Guandique (r.) of El Salvador. The tournament begins with 16 games over two days in the singles event and then turns to eight games of mixed doubles action. The top eight in singles and top eight mixed doubles teams will then compete in Masters competition. 
The Venezuelan Bowling Federation (FVB) and the Canadian Tenpin Federation (CTF) will send their best male and female bowlers from the 2007 season to the inaugural Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON, formerly American Zone) Championship of Champions which will be held from June 2-6, 2008 at Galaxy Bowling Center in San Salvador, El Salvador. The Championship serves as the qualifying event for the World Games 2009. 
For Team USA's Shannon O'Keefe and John Janawicz, spending time in the gym is almost as important as getting in practice time on the lanes. both players will put their training to the test at the inaugural Pan American Bowling Confederation Championship of the Champions from June 1-6 in San Salvador, El Salvador, as they hope to earn spots for Team USA in the 2009 World Games. In the Championship of the Champions, both players will be tested by the best players in the American Zone.
