The American Zone Ranking Final is underway at El Dorado Bowling Center in Panama City, Panama, March 1-4, 2006. The event will conclude the 2005 American Zone ranking season. All players will bowl three 8-game blocks to determine the 16 players - 8 women and 8 men - who will qualify for the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait. The first block on Thursday will be played on the 34-foot short oil pattern.
Walter Costa of Brazil and Colombia's Sara Vargas (pictured) claimed the men's and women's titles in the 2005 American Rankings South Region. Costa led the men's rankings with 300 points and was one of ten Brazilians among the top 16. Vargas accumulated 313 points to lead Brazilians Jacque Costa (300) and Marizete Scheer (283), who finished in second and third, respectively.

Alejandro Reyna of Costa Rica and Annie Henriquez of the Dominican Republic led the 2005 American Rankings in the Central and Caribbean Region. Reyna totaled 238 points in three events to lead Willie Javier, Dominican Republic, by 37 points. In the women's division Henriquez topped fellow country woman Aumi Guerra, 264-241 points.
The USBC Masters tournament and the ABC/WIBC Mixed Championships were the final ranking events in the North Region of the American Zone. The tournaments provided a few changes in the ranking but not atop the men's and women's leaderboard. George Lambert IV (pictured), Welland, Ontario, Canada and Diandra Asbaty, Chicago, Illinois, USA became the first North Region ranking champions.
Annie Henriquez (pictured) of the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica's Alejandro Reyna became the first leaders of the American Zone Central and Caribbean Region rankings. With only the Punta Cana Open and some National Championships remaining to cash ranking points to qualify for the final American Zone ranking Tournament, both leaders hold a comfortable lead over their compatriots Aumi Guerra and Alberto Lizano.
South Region ranking coordinator Veronica Rajii has released the first standings of the American Zone South region with Colombians only in both the men's and women's division.
