Junior Team USA roster for PABCON Youth Championships announced

Eight of the top youth bowlers in the United States will travel to Puerto Rico in July to represent Junior Team USA at the 2013 PABCON Youth Championships. The event will be held in Ponce, Puerto Rico, from July 7-12 and features countries in the American Zone competing in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All-Events and Masters. Junior Team USA also will compete in the Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas in Sunrise, Fla., from July 28-Aug. 3.

Puerto Rico Bowling Federation releases Bulletin No.1 for 2013 PABCON Youth Championships

PABCONLogo.jpgThe Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) and the Puerto Rico Bowling Federation (FEBOPUR) have released Bulletin No. 1 for the 2013 PABCON Youth Championships. The championships will be held at 24-lane Bowling Center Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico from July 6-13, 2013. Each PABCON member federation is allowed to send up to four boys and four girls in the Under-20 division and up to two boys and two girls in the Under-16 division.

A total of 105 youth bowlers from 15 countries participated in the championhips.

2011PYCLogo_small.jpg The boys from Puerto Rico and the Junior Team USA girls dominated the first half of the Under-20 four-player Team event while Colombia led the U-16 Mixed Team event in the PABCON Youth Championships Thursday at Cibao Bowling Center in Santiago de Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, Puerto Ricans Hector Soto, Michael Fonseca, Josh Lee Encarnacion and Cristian Azcona put on a show in the boys division firing games of 939, 908 and 968 to lead the field of ten after three of six games with 2815 total and an average of 234.58.

Belandria led the U-20 boys with 1251 and Franco cruised to the girls gold with the highest total of 1291, an average of 215.17. In the under-16 division, Lorenzo Young of Panama and Aruba's Abigail Dammers captured the first gold medals of the championships.

PABCON Youth Championships officially kicked off in Dominican Republic

The 2011 Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships were ushered in with the opening ceremonies on Sunday afternoon in the Dominican Republic. More than 100 bowlers from 16 countries will compete in the championships, which features two divisions, 20 and younger and 16 and younger. BOWL.com is planning to provide free live streaming of the under-20 division of the event. Coverage is scheduled to begin at Monday, July 18th at 1:30 p.m. Eastern with the Singles competition.

2011PYCLogo_small.jpg The Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) and the Dominican Bowling Federation (FEBODOM) have released the Bulletin No. 1 for the 2011 PABCON Youth Championships (Sub 16 and Sub 20). The championships for youth bowlers will be held at Cibao Bowling Center in Santiago de Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, from July 16 through 23, 2011. Each PABCON member federation is allowed to send four boys and four girls in the Under 20 division and two boys and two girls in the Under 16 division.

Puerto Rico swept the gold medals in the Under-16 Masters competition. Kristie Petravich (r.) of West Palm Beach, Fla., defeated Christine Bator of Warren, Mich., 2-0, to take the girls title, while Jake Peters (l.) of Decatur, Ill., beat Daniel Spink of St. Louis, Mo., 2-1, to take the boys gold medal.

Puerto Rico sweeps gold medals in Sub-16 Team and All Events at PABCON Youth Championships

2009PYCLogo_small.jpg The Under-16 Mixed Foursome team from Puerto Rico captured the gold medal in the Team event in the PABCON Youth Championships Friday at Sport Complex Salitre in Bogota, Colombia. Kristie Lopez, Valerie Bermudez, Cristian Azcona and Josh Lee Encarnacion had games of 811, 777 and 796 or a total of 2384 on Day Two to leap one spot and to win the title with 4613 six-game total and an average of 192.21. Lopez and Azcona led the team with 1223 and 1240 six-game total en route to win the girls and boys All Events title.

The top 16 players in the final All Events standings advanced to the Masters on Saturday.

The U.S. trio of Jenn Boisselle, Kristie Petravich and Christine Bator (left) earned the gold medal with a six-game total of 3,765, topping host Colombia by 102 pins. Mexicans Andre Fors Farias, Jorge Ramos and Alejandro Montijo (right) finished with 3,975, topping Junior Team USA's 3,791.

Juliana Franco teamed with Juan Lopez to win her second gold medal in  Mixed Doubles. Cristian Azcona posted the tournament's first 300 game to lead his team mate Josh Lee Encarnacion to the gold medal in Boys Doubles. Kristie Lopez and Valerie Bermudez outaveraged their nearest competitor by 17.5 pins to win the gold medal in Girls Doubles.

Jake Peters and Chris Pierson won the boys gold with 2,508 six-game total. Brittni Hamilton and Christine Bator combined to shoot 2,499 and breezed to the girls title by nearly 150 pins.

Bator, Gomez take Under-20 Singles Gold at PABCON Youth Championships

Bator totaled 1,346 for six games, an average of 224.33, at Salitre Bowling Center to beat out Colombia's Laura Fonnegra for the gold medal by five pins. On the boys side, Colombia's Juan Gomez (r.) finished with 258 and 268 to win the gold medal with 1,401 pinfall total (233.50). The gold medals in the Under-16 divisions went to Jose Morales, Guatemala, and Juliana Franco, Colombia.

PABCON Youth Championships gets underway with opening ceremonies

2009PYCOpeningCeremonies_small.jpgBowlers from 17 countries were celebrated Sunday before a standing-room only crowd at Salitre Bowling Center during the opening ceremonies of the 2009 Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships. More than 120 bowlers will compete in the PABCON Youth Championships, which features two divisions, one for bowlers 20 and younger and the other for bowlers 16 and younger. The competition begins with singles on Monday morning and continues with action in doubles and team and concludes Saturday with Masters. Medals will also be awarded in all-events.
