Junior Team USA holds three of top four boys division spots heading into final day
Third-seeded Rafael Medina (left), Venezuela, climbed the ladder to end the 11th American Zone Youth Championships at Bol La Noria Pro in Puebla, Mexico with victory in the Boys Masters final. In the semi-final match, Medina sidelined Steven Uchikata, Canada, 215-199, and went on to defeat leader Dan Vick, United States, 407-371.

In the opening match Santiago def. Canadian Felicia Wong in a 177-176 nail-biter, then topped No. 1 seed Ana Isabel Gonzalez Gonzalez, Mexico, 428-385, over two games total pinfall to seal the victory.

Josh Blanchard, United States, won his third gold medal in the fourth event of the 11th American Zone Youth Championships at Bol La Noria Pro in Puebla, Mexico. Blanchard totaled 3703 over the 18 games to claim the All Events title with an average of 205,72. His team mate Daniel Vick grabbed the silver medal with 3663, while Mexican Jose Salinas Villarreal finished in third place with 3633.

The Singles champion won her second individual gold medal in All Events. with 3626 18-game total and an average of 201,44. Venezuela's Patricia De Faria captured the silver medal with 3582, while Mexico's Ana Isabel Gonzalez Gonzalez took bronze with 3492.
After their performance in Singles and Doubles, the Canadian and U.S. girls were the favorites to win the 4-player Team title in the 11th American Zone Youth Championships. But, to their surprise, it was the Venezuelan team that took home the gold medal. Patricia De Faria, Joan Gonzalez, Esther Francys Alvarez and Jackeline Gerani averaged 197.79 for six games to finish 133 pins ahead of Mexico. USA secured the bronze medal, 21 pins ahead of Canada in fourth.
Chris Bunnage of Kelowna, British Columbia and Mathieu Vallieres, Rock Forest, Quebec (pictured) won the gold medal and Darren Klassen, Winkler, Manitoba and Steve Uchikata of Mississauga, Ontario earned the bronze medal in the Boys Doubles event of the XI American Zone Championships taking place in Puebla, Mexico. Matthew O'Grady and Singles champion Josh Blanchard, United States, teamed to win the silver medal with 2451.
After the Team USA girls failed to win a medal in the Singles even yesterday, Bryana Caldwell and Emily Maier (l-r) came back to win the gold medal in Doubles in the 11th American Zone Youth Championships on Monday. The U.S. duo felled 2395 pins, an average of 198.58. Singles champion Felicia Wong of Canada teamed with Jennifer Besana to earn the silver medal with 2302 (191.83). Their team mates Casondra Campbell and Kodee Pilling took the bronze with 2290 (190.83).
Felicia means happy and that is exactly what Canadian Felicia Wong was when she finished her six-game series in the Girls Singles event at the 11th American Zone Youth Championships with 1204 to win the gold medal. Jessica Santiago of Puerto Rico waited until the very last moment to earn the silver medal with 1161. Patricia De Faria of Venezuela took the bronze medal with 1150.

Attending the Opening Ceremony were American Zone president Jose Guandique, El Salvador, the presidium (pictured), Mexican Bowling Federation president Dr. Jose Aguilar and representatives of the local authorities. The championships will be held June 9-16 at Bol La Noria Pro.
