Now Official: Arturo Hernandez and Rocio Restrepo win 2006 American Zone Ranking Finals

The tournament determined the 8 women and 8 men who will be eligible to represent the American Zone in the World Ranking Masters in Doha, Qatar, in April.

Hernandez continues to lead men's division; Colombians Restrepo, Vargas 1-2 in women's division

Arturo_Hernandez_3967.jpg Arturo Hernandez from Venezuela rolled the second-highest 1841-series on long oil to maintain his lead in the men's division with 3589 and an average of 224.31 over 16 games. On the women's side, Colombia's Rocio Restrepo posted the highest block on long oil with 1768 to leap two spots into the lead with 3393, and an average of 212.06. Her teammate, World Ranking Masters champion Sara Vargas, remained in second with 3287.

2006 American Zone Ranking Finals will start today

The American Zone Ranking Finals will start today at Punta Cana Lanes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. 57 competitors - 29 women and 28 men - will determine the 8 women and 8 men who will represent the American Zone in the World Ranking Masters in Doha, Qatar (April 30 - May 6). All players will bowl three blocks of eight games on short, long and short/long oil from Feb. 2 through 4.

The American Zone Ranking Finals will be held at Punta Cana Lanes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from February 1-5, 2007. The top 12 Ladies and the top 12 Men from each one of the five regions - North, Central, Caribbean South 1 and 2 - earned the right to compete in the Ranking Final for a spot in the 2007 World Ranking Masters.

60 men and 60 women qualify for "American Zone Final Ranking"

Jose_Guandique_5427.jpg American Zone president Jose Guandique (pictured left) from El Salvador has forwarded the official final standings of the 2006 American Zone Rankings. The American Zone was divided in five regions for the 2006 rankings, North, Central, Caribbean and South 1 and 2. The top 12 men and the top 12 women in each of the five regions qualified for the "American Zone Final Ranking" to be held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from Jan. 31st to Feb. 4th.

The ranking events of the South Region 2 will be in the second half of the year. Mr. Guandique has also forwarded a special message to all bowlers in the American Zone and it is our pleasure to inform them about certain rules in the American Zone ranking system.

XXX Copa Carnaval de Barranquilla, Colombia approved as ranking tournament

Gilbert Snijders. General Coordinator of the WTBA American Zone 2006 Rankings has informed us that the XXX Copa Carnaval de Barranquilla, Colombia, January 25-28, 2006, was approved as open ranking tournament for the South Region 1. The tournament attracted 51 male and 12 female bowlers of whom 6 male and 2 female (all from Colombia) subscribed for the WTBA South Region 1 Ranking 2006.

Drastic changes in 2006 American Zone Rankings

Presidium releases General Rules for all ranking events

Jose_Guandique_5427.jpg American Zone President José Antonio Guandique E. (pictured) and six members of the presidium have approved new General Rules for the American Zone Ranking 2006. The American Zone, which was divided in three ranking zones last year, will be divided in five regions for the 2006 rankings: Northern Region, Central American Region, Caribbean Region, Southern Region 1 and 2.
