Inaugural YES Corporate Cup set for June 25
03/29/12
So which brand in the bowling industry has the best bowling team? Well, there's only one way to find out.
The International Bowling Campus Youth Development team will hold a corporate tournament to benefit the Youth Education Services (YES) Fund during Bowl Expo in Reno, Nev.
The inaugural YES Corporate Cup is scheduled for Monday, June 25 from 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the one-of-a-kind National Bowling Stadium (pictured left). The cost is $5,000 per brand; the tournament is a fundraiser, so all proceeds will go to the YES Fund.
However, the winning team will receive a "sizeable trophy" it can display for the next 12 months to signify it is the best in the bowling business. Of course, this is the start of what will be a yearly competition, so the winner will have to defend its title next year.
"Some industry partners suggested we create a little competition for bragging rights between the bowling brands," said IBC Managing Director of Youth Development Chad Murphy (right).
"The nation's leading bowling manufacturers have been so instrumental in the success of the YES Fund since its creation and we hope they will join us for a fun competition that will benefit youth bowling."
Of course, there will be a few rules to make the tournament a little more interesting.
Participants must be a full-time employee of the company for which they will compete. Also, they cannot be an exempt pro for the 2011-12 season.
At the tournament, all teams will bowl one team game with total pinfall determining the top four seeds for the match-play bracket. For match play, the four teams will compete in a best-of-three single-elimination Baker format.
The YES Corporate Cup will have a limited field and entries will close May 1.
