Canadian boys and girls to compete at 12th World Youth Championships

    Record 50 countries to bowl for medals at Blu-O Paragon Bowling Center in Bangkok, Thailand (June 22 - July 3, 2012)

     Canada will be one of a record 50 countries competing at the 12th annual World Youth Championships taking place in Thailand.

    The championships for youth who have not reached their 21st birthday on January 1, 2012 will be held from June 22 through July 3 in Bangkok, Thailand at the Blu-O Paragon Bowling Center in Siam Paragon Shopping Mall.

    Canada's team earned the right to wear the 'red and white' at the 2011 National Championships held at Laurentian Lanes in the Greater Montreal, Quebec area.

    Ontario and Quebec bowlers make up the teams as follows:

    Girls - Carrie Hopkinson, Drumbo, ON, Brittany Barnett, Brampton, ON, Caroline Nadeau, Coaticook, QC, Adreanne Blouin, Charlesbourg, QC
    Boys - Zachary Wilkins, Barrie, ON, Kevin Maurice, Compton, QC, Brock Finch, Stirling, ON, Daniel Brazeau, Notre Dame Ille Perrot, QC.

    Coaching the team will be Deborah Chan and Damien Skelling, Calgary, Alberta. Christina Littlejohn, Vancouver, British Columbia is the Assistant Coach.

    The event will include competition in Singles, Doubles, Teams and All Events for both boys and girls. A match-play Masters competition will also be held for the top 16 girls and the top 16 boys in All Events.

    The Canadian Tenpin Federation was formed in 1969 to qualify representatives for international competition. . CTF became a full membership organization on August 1, 2004 to deliver membership services to 40,000 plus registered tenpin bowlers in Canada.

    Memberships services had previously been provided by the American Bowling Congress, the Women's International Bowling Congress and the Young American Bowling Alliance who were headquartered in the USA.
