Enough is enough - Time to take a stand and fight back By Jason Belmonte
08/01/12
I have simply had enough.
Bowlers get talked down to the members of the public. They are disrespected in mainstream media, and as an industry we have an obligation. We, the owners of bowling centers, tours, ball companies, shoe companies, grips companies and all the bowlers of the world have a responsibility to 'get bowlings back'.
Why do I feel so strongly about this all of a sudden?
Truth is, I have always felt this way, but recently this last straw broke my back. Meet the last straw here.
His name is Vin Gerard, and whilst he may not be a name that anyone would really know, I will remember it forever.
I watched and realized that this 'clown' publicly said what so many non bowlers think around the world. I must admit, I did laugh while watching the video. It was funny, he was funny. Just as the video was about to end, a bell went off in my head.
I was laughing at him laughing at me. That's not cool.
I decided to reply to this video with one of my own
Enough is enough - Time to take a stand and fight back.
I called a press conference to make a statement about all this nonsense. You can see that statement here.
I have started a movement within the bowling community called 'Bowlers Uniting'. I wanted a place for the bowlers of the world to share their own challenge stories or a time when they defended bowling.
It's a place for us to come together and unite for a single cause - to protect bowling.
If you want to share your stories of a time when you defended bowling, a place where you can show you care and are doing something about it, join this group here – Everyone is invited, just click here.
So what's the end game with all this?
There is no end game.
This fight is forever.
We as an industry are the only people who can change our stereotypes as bowlers, we as an industry are the only ones who can make a difference.
Do you care enough?
Do you have bowlings back?
