In the title match against three-time PBA champion Osku Palermaa (right) of Finland, Daugherty doubled his low score to defeat the two-hander, 200-182. Daugherty had a clean game including a double in the fifth and sixth frame, while Palermaa, who won the PBA World Championship last year, suffered back-to-back open frames in the sixth and seventh frame.

201213PBA04JasonSterner.jpg201213PBA04JasonBelmonte.jpgFourth seeded Daugherty had to go the distance to win the title. In the opening match against Jason Sterner (left) of McDonough, Ga., the 37-year-old right-hander to the early lead with three strikes in frames 2-4 and never looked back. Sterner, who opened in three of his first seven frames, had to settle for fourth place, 199-177.

In the semifinal match against the other two-handed PBA champion, Australia's Jason Belmonte (right), Daugherty fired a six-bagger and a double for the only high game of the Scorpion Championship final to hand Belmonte his second defeat of the day, 256-187.

Belmonte, who lost the title match of the PBA Chameleon Championship against Scott Norton earlier on Sunday, still has a chance to win his sixth career title as he is the No. 1 seed in the PBA World Championships finals.

Palermaa received $10,000 for second place. Belmonte got $7,000 for third place and Sterner took $5,000 for fourth place.

The ESPN stepladder final which was conducted on Sunday, Nov. 11, in the special arena setting in South Point’s Exhibition Hall area will air on Sunday, Jan. 6.
