Bob_Glass_5009.jpgBob Glass and Shirley Levens were voted 2004 Senior Bowlers of the Year by a select committee of the Bowling Writers Association of America.

Glass, Lawrence, Kan., earned the men's honor for the fifth consecutive year as a result of his solid record on the Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour. He led the tour with two titles - the PBA Senior Epicenter Classic in Klamath Falls, Ore., and the PBA Senior Chillicothe (Ohio) Open - and in earnings with $28,600. He cashed in six of nine events and advanced to three championship rounds, including a third-place finish in the Senior U.S. Open.

Glass (four first-place votes/26 points) topped Gary Dickinson, Edmond, Okla. (2/20) and David Ozio, Beaumont, Texas (2/18) in the balloting.

Levens, Cocoa, Fla. gained the ladies' nod for the third consecutive year with victories in Las Vegas in the Legends Division of the Ladies Classic Tour National Championship and at the 14th annual National Golden Ladies Classic. She rolled the first perfect game in Women's International Bowling Congress Senior Queens history in Wichita, Kan., where she placed fourth. She captured five gold medals and a silver in the senior division of the Tournament of the Americas in Miami.

The voters gave Levens (five first-place votes/31 points) a comfortable margin of victory over Fran Deken, Coweta, Okla. (2/17) and Sandra Postma, Lansing, Ill. (1/16).
