Ong and Canare win final Asian Bowling Federation Tour leg

Two-time World Champion Remy Ong from Singapore and JoJo Canare of the Philippines won the 8th and final event of the 2006 Asian Bowling Federation Tour at Thunder Bowl in Hong Kong, China. Ong posted the men's high game in the title match when he flew past the crowd's favorite, Jeffery Choi, 245-162.
In an exciting women's championship match, Canare topped Angkana Netsviseth, Thailand, 231-225. In the opening match of the 16-player one-game shoot-out final, Canare sidelined Hong Kong Open champion and ABFT women's ranking leader Shalin Zulkifli from Malaysia, 220-209.
With the victory and the 75 ranking points, Canare secured a spot for the 2007 ABFT Tournament of Champions. Ong, who won his first-ever ABFT title, tied Mohd Noer, Malaysia, with 75 points for the 16th place in the men's rankings. Noer earned the final ToC spot thanks to the higher average this season.
