Korean women shoot high score to cruise to the title in Team event at Asian Indoor Games

2007AIGLogo_small.jpg The Korean four-player team flew past the Chinese women, 957-833, in the title match of the four-player team event to win the third gold medal in as many events in the 2nd Asian Indoor Games at COTAI International Sports Complex in Macau, China.

Gang Hye Eun led the team with 260 and was followed by Gye Min Young (246), Choi Jin A (237) and Kim Yeau Jin (214).

Chen Dongdong, Wu Suqin, Zhang Yuhong, Yang Suling received the silver medal.

The teams from Japan (842-764 vs. Korea) and Malaysia (793-720 vs. China) shared the bronze medal.

Korean outdistance the rest of the field to earn the top seed for women's team finals in Macau


2007AIGLogo_small.jpg Singles gold medalist Choi Jin A, Doubles gold medalists Gang Hye Eun/Gye Min Young and Kim Yeau Jin from Korea widened their lead during the second three-game block on short oil to 397 pins en route to earn the top seed for women's four-player team finals in the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games.

The foursome felled 2588 pins on long oil and added 2695 on the short pattern to finish with 5284 pinfall total and an average of 220.17. The Koreans outaveraged their nearest competitor by more than sixteen pins.

Zatil Iman, Sin Li Jane, Trsih Khoo Wei Ling and Norhanizah Abu Bakar of Malaysia moved from third to second place after posting the second-highest block on short oil (2439). The Malaysians totaled 4887, a 203.63 average.

China with Chen Dongdong, Wu Suqin, Zhang Yuhong and Yang Suling slipped to third behind a sub-par 2376 series to finish with 4841 (201.71).

Japan beat out the Philippines for the fourth and final qualifying spot by 16 pins. Hakura Matsuda, Kumi Tsuzawa, Kanako Ishimine and Ayano Katai totaled 4718 pins (196.58) and will meet the Koreans in the semi-final. Malaysia will take on China in the other semi-.final.

The bowling competition in the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games will conclude on Friday with the team finals.
