Santa, Sacre end 2008 PABCON Senior Championships with victory in Masters

Antonio Santa from Puerto Rico and Mexico's Fransuesa Sacre ended the 2008 PABCON Senior Championships with victory in the Masters competition Saturday at Cibao Bowling Center in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.
The top 16 men and the top 16 women in All Events (combined results of Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team event) advance to the Masters finals. The first two match play rounds (highest seed vs. lowest seed, etc.) were contested over three games total pinfall while the semis and the finals were in best-of-three games format.
Santa (pictured right), the men's All Events bronze medalist flew past #14 Mauricio Proaño, Ecuador, 618-510, then survived a strong challenge by Rudy Moreno, United States, 6124-611.
On the women's side, All Events champion and No. 1 seed Sacre ousted #16 Ashie Gonzalez, Puerto Rico, 579-557, and Lizdette De Castillo, Guatemala, 589-498.
Both semifinals, men and women, were decided in two games, while both finals went the distance. Santa used a 268 to eliminate Mike Aguilar, Guatemala, and defeated Leopoldo Ritter, Venezuela, 2-1 in the title match thanks to a 236 game in the decider.

Ritter and Dos Ramos earned silver, while the semi-final losers shared the bronze medal.
The 31 men and 20 women from 10 countries - Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panamá, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, United States, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic - competed for medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, four-player Team, All Events and Masters.
