It is likely that the WRM will not continue past 2009

ABFLogo_small.jpg Chan Shuk Han of Hong Kong, China, and Hussain Al-Suwaidi, UAE, finished the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation ranking season atop the women's and men's leaderboard.

Shuk Han, who took the lead in the women's division with victory in the season opening ABF Tour Tournament of Champions, accumulated 457 points and won the women's ranking title by a landslide.

Choi Jin-A, one of three players from the highly successful Korean national team in the top 8, was a distant second with 260 points. Her teammates Jeon Eun-Hee (220) and Hwang Sun-Ok (200) finished fourth and sixth, respectively.

Third place belonged to QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup champion Jasmine Yeong-Nathan, Singapore, with 233 points.

Two Malaysian made the top 8 and qualified for the 2009 World Ranking Masters. Zandra Aziela earned 208 points to end the season in fifth place, while Shalin Zulkifli grabbed the 8th and final spot fort he WRM with 199 points.

Shuk Han's compatriot Vanessa Fung was tied with Hwang Sun-Ok for sixth place with 200 points.

Al-Suwaidi chalked up 550 ranking points during the 2008 ABF ranking season en route to claim the men's title. Trailing Al-Suwaidi by 157 points to land in second place was Zulmazran Zulkifli, Malaysia, with 393 points.

Two-time Asian ranking champion Wu Siu Hong, Hong Kong, was third with 360 points.

Places 4-7 belonged to Arab bowlers Basel Al-Anzi, Kuwait (357), Shaker Al-Hassan, UAE (332), Bandar Al-Shafi, Qatar (319) and Naif Oqab, UAE (296).

Rounding out the top 8 was Alex Liew, Malaysia, with 277 points.

The top 8 women and the top 8 men from the 2008 ABR Rankings will meet with their counterparts from Europe and America at the 2009 World Ranking Masters, April 27 through May 3 in Naples, Italy.

As there is no sponsor for the 2010 World Ranking Masters at the horizon it is likely that the WRM will not continue past 2009.
