Michael Schmidt of Tyndall, Province of Manitoba and Caroline Lagrange from Montreal, Quebec won the Bowling World Cup Canadian National Championships conducted by Bowl Canada.
For Schmidt this will be his fourth trip to the BWC and a chance to repeat his inaugural 2005 triumph in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He then went to finish third in Caracas, Venezuela and fourth in St. Petersburg, Russia. He will bring to Melaka a 231 league average, 12 perfect games in the book and a career high 3-game series of 837.
In the women semi-final, last year winner, Nanaimo’s own Jennifer Park defeated third qualifier Lynne Gauthier from East St. Paul, Manitoba, 216-183. In the final Caroline Lagrange of Montreal, Quebec beat Jennifer Park convincingly 244 to 227.

They won the right to participate in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup to be held in Melaka, Malaysia between the 14th and the 21st. of November in a new 52 AMF lane Melaka International Bowling Center located inside the Melaka International Trade Center (MITC) which will open in June.
The National finals were held on the 40 lanes of Centre de Quilles 440 in Laval, Province of Quebec, on March 14 and 15.
Sixteen provincial champions (8 women and 8 men who won the 8 game provincial qualifiers) took part as well as the 2 last year winners. After two rounds of eight games, both Schmidt and Lagrange, earned the top stepladder positions averaging 241.1 and 214.7 respectively.
The men semi-final pitted last year winner Jack Guay of Calgary, Alberta against third place qualifier Ryan Reid of Campbell River, British Columbia averaging 231.7. In a high caliber match Reid beat Guay, 277-258.
