Naif Oqab leads Round of 32 in Bahrain International Open

    BBALogo_small.jpgPlayers seeded 7-38 after qualifying bowled eight games starting from scratch in the Round of 32 in the 8th Kingdom of Bahrain International Open Friday at Funland Bowling Center in Manama. Naif Oqab tallied 1889 and averaged 236.23 to lead the top 12 into the third round in which they will meet the six qualifying leaders.

    Defending champion Saeed Al-Hajri, Qatar, was second with 1874, with Ahmed Al-Noaimi, Bahrain third at 1861. The top 12 from the Round of 32 plus the top 6 from the preliminaries will return on Saturday, April 11, to bowl another 8 games in the semifinals to determine the top 5 players for the stepladder finals.

    The winners gets the $20,000 top prize, the runner-up receives $10,000 while places 3-5 are worth $5,000, $4,500 and $3,000, respectively.
