Five of the top 8 move to the losers' bracket in opening round in Riyadh

    2009KSAOpenLogo_small.jpgJust three of the top 8 seeds survived the opening round of the double-elimination match play finals in the 3rd Kingdom International Open at Universal Bowling Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. No 1 seed Andres Gomez, Colombia, No. 3 Hussain Al-Suwaidi and No. 8 Saeed Al-Hajri, Qatar, swept their opponents, two-games-to-none, in the best-of-three games format.

    The other five including the three Thai bowlers Sithiphol Kunaksorn, Surasak Manuwong and Yannaphon Larp-apharat were sent into the losers' bracket by their lower-seeded opponents.

    The eight winners of the opening round remain in the winners' bracket.

    The winner will receive the USD25,000 top prize. Additionally, the top 16 Asian bowlers will qualify for the ABF Tour Saudi Arabia leg on May 9, 2009.
