Canada will have an experienced team at the Women's World Championships

2007PITFeliciaWong.jpgRobinOrlikowski.jpgCanada will be one of 45 countries competing in the 2009 Women’s World Championships. The entry is a record number for the women’s championships. The World Tenpin Bowling Association event will be hosted by the United States Bowling Congress at the Cashman Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 25 - August 2, 2009.

For the first time in history, the women’s championships will have both professional and amateur players participating.

They will compete on 60 specially constructed lanes at the Cashman Centre, the site of the USBC Open Championships, which will conclude on July 24th.

The last time a world championship was conducted on specially installed lanes was at the 1971 World Championship held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The competition will be conducted in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team and a Masters event for the top 16 All Events finishers.

Canada will have an experienced team. They have all competed internationally.

Sandy Lowe, Bowmanville, Ont., will coach the team. Michael Boroskae, Winnipeg, Manitoba will serve as the technical coach and Damien Skellings, Calgary, Alberta, will serve as team manager.

The World Tenpin Bowling Association and the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs will hold their biennial congress meetings after the championships on August 3rd and 4th.

Representing Canada will be the CTF President Cathy Innes, Richmond, BC and Joe Nunes, CTF 1st Vice President of Montreal, Quebec. Hazel McLeary, Victoria, BC, CTF Public Relations Coordinator will also attend the congresses and the championships.
