Colombia leads 68 Trios into Day Two competition at Women's World Championships

The Colombians felled 1960 pins and averaged 217.78 Thursday on the WTBA Stockholm pattern at the 60-lane Cashman Center.

2005 World Ranking Masters champion Guerrero also is leading in All Events after 15 of 24 games with 3312 total or an average of 220.80. All competitors will return Friday to test their skills on the 40-foot WTBA Athens pattern.

The 18th place trio after the first block is les than 100 pins away from fourth place, making the second block of three games before the cut to the top four promising to be an extra exciting round.

After representatives from 45 countries complete their six-game preliminaries, the top four trios will advance to the semifinals, which will be held Friday at 5.00 local time (8 p.m. EDT).

The No. 1 seed will bowl the No. 4 and No. 2 takes on No. 3 in the semifinals. The winners will bowl for the title and the losers will share the bronze medal. All matches are one-game matches.

The 2009 Women's World Championships consists of six disciplines. Players will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team and Masters competition before the event concludes Sunday. Medals also will be awarded for All Events.

The World Championships is being held on 60 specially constructed lanes inside Cashman Center and includes the world's largest mobile video scoreboard, an investment of nearly $6 million, spectator seating, office, vendor and pro shop space, a scale room, squad room, registration area and shipping department.

USBC plans to live stream portions of the event on bowl.com, and bowling fans around the world will be able to watch the finals and select semifinals.
