Hwang Sun-Ok, Gang Hye-Eun, Jeon Eun-Hee, Son Yun-Hee and Kim Yeau-Jin extended the winning streak for Asian teams in World Championships winning the most prestigious team gold medal for the sixth time in a row - Australia (1995), Korea (1999), Malaysia (2003), Chinese Taipei (2005) and Malaysia (2007).

The Americans, who wanted to win the title so badly, had to settle for the silver medal for the third time in a row. Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Kim Terrell-Kearney, Wendy Macpherson, Lynda Barnes, Stefanie Nation and Liz Johnson bowled a good game but the Koreans read the lane condition and transition better.

The title match featured five 250 games, three from the Koreans and two from the U.S.

In the semifinals, Team USA flew past Singapore's Bernice Lim, Shayna Ng, Cherie Tan, Jazreel Tan and Jasmine Yeong-Nathan, 1035-934, while Korea eliminated Swedes Nina Flack, Malin Glendert, Victoria Johansson, Helen Johnsson and Veronica Lantto, 1041-974.
