Naif Oqab, the lowest seed in the 8-player Men's Singles finals, cruised to victory in the opening bowling event of the 3rd Asian Indoor Games Sunday at Saigon Superbowl in Ho Chih Minh City, Vietnam.

The Arab flew past qualifying leader Jang Dong-Chul, Korea, in the quarterfinal, 279-183, then edged No. 4 seed, Biboy Rivera, 219-194, Philippines, in the semis and took the gold medal in the title match against No. 6 seed, Choi Bok-Eum, Korea, by three pins, 222-219.

Choi, who advanced to the finals with a huge 289-226 win over No. 7 seed,, Jassim Darwish, Kuwait, earned silver while Darwish and Rivera shared the bronze medal.

The 3rd Asian Indoor Games drew 73 men and 49 women from 20 countries, who will bowl for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles and 4-Player team event.. The championships will continue on Monday with the Women's Singles competition.
