Bowlers from Daegu and Tamuning will battle it out for the title in AIBC Men's Masters

Three bowlers from Daegu, Korea, and three from the host city of Tamuning, Guam, lead the Men's Masters finals in the 23rd Asian Intercity Bowling Championship as the competition has reached its halfway mark.
Daegu's Choi Suk Byung, who has won three gold and one silver in the previous four disciplines, outaveraged his opponents by almost 20 pins to take a dominating 149 pin lead after 8 of 16 games Thursday at Central Lanes.
Choi had seven games between 239 and 289 and a low game of 219 for 2010 pinfall total and won five of his eight matches in round robin to add another 50 pins bonus (10 per win) to set the pace with 2060.
Tamuning's Jonathan Duenas started with a 279 game and averaged 232.63 for the round finishing with 1911 including 50 bonus to take the second place. The other 3-time gold medalist from Daegu, Kim Young Pyo, is 25 pins behind in third place with 1869 including a 5-3 won-loss record.
Fourth and fifth place belong to JD Castro and Brian Manibusan, both from Tamuning, with 1844 and 1820, respectively. Shin Sung Hoon, Daegu, and Lau Kwan Ho of Hong Kong City are tied for sixth place with 1798.
The 16 bowlers representing eight cities - Daegu, Korea; Hong Kong City, Hong Kong; Pohang, Korea; Quezon City, Philippines; Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands; Taipei City, Chinese Taipei; Tamuning, Guam; and Victoria, Hong Kong - will return on Friday for the second and final block.
The top 16 of 59 men from 15 cities in All Events (combined results in Singles, Doubles and Team, 18 games overall) advanced to the Masters finals, which will conclude the 23rd Asian Intercity Bowling Championship on Thursday and Friday.
Players will determine the champion in 15 games round robin match play plus one game position round (10 games bonus per win) starting from scratch.
