Korean Girls dominate first block of the Masters finals at 15th Asian Youth Championships

Korea, the only country which has all four players in the Girls Masters finals of the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships, dominated the first block of round robin match play Monday at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait.
Kim Hyun Mi (pictured left) averaged 252.38 over eight games and compiled a 6-2 won-loss record (10 pins bonus per win) to lead the 16 finalists from six countries with 2079 pinfall total. Kim had six games between 248 and 269 and back-to-back 236 (low) games, which she both lost.
Kim (center) holds a 112-pin lead over team mate Lee Yeon Ji (left), who averaged 238.38 including a high game of 279 and added 60 pins bonus to sit in second place with 1967.
Kim Yeon Ju had the third-highest 232.75 average including the 299 high game of the block but lost 5 of her eight matches to miss third place by six pins with 1892.
All Events silver medalist Misaki Mukotani (right), Japan, used a 6-2 match play record and a 229.75 average to overtake third place with 1898 pinfall total.
The fourth Korean, Singles champion and All Events bronze medalist Baek Seung Ja, sits in 11th place with 1776 (2-6).
3-time gold medalist Bernice Lim, Singapore, is 117 pins off the pace for the medals in 10th place with 1781 including 30 pins bonus.
The top 16 in All Events (combined results in Singles, Doubles and Team) advanced to the Masters finals on Monday and Tuesday. All 16 players will bowl 15 games of round robin match play plus 1 game position round (10 pins bonus per win, 5 for a tie) to determine the top 3 players who will bowl for the medals in a stepladder final.
31 girls from 8 countries - Australia, China, DPR Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore - will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, 4-player Team, All Events and Masters.
