European Youth Championships All Events champion Jesse Kallio from Finland flirted with perfection, firing 11 strikes to start the title match of the Boys Singles finals against Daniels Vezis, Latvia, en route to win the gold medal at the 23rd European Youth Championships Saturday at Plaza Bowling in St. Maximin, France, 299-255.

Kallio, seeded second after the six-game preliminaries, easily defeated No. 3 seed, Mik Stampe, Denmark, in the semifinal, 224-179. Vezis stunned No. 1 seed, Lars Wouters, Belgium, in the other semifinal match, 233-169.

Kallio earned his second gold medal of the Championships. Vezis received the silver medal while Wouters and Stampe shared the bronze medal.
