Chinese Taipei men win Singles gold and silver at East Asian Pacific Championship

In an all-Chinese Taipei affair, Yang Nien-Hua, seeded third, defeated No. 4 seed, Cheng Hsing-Chao, 226-210, to win the gold medal in Singles at the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship in Tamuning, Guam.
The spinners from Chinese Taipei occupied places 3 through 7 after the six-game preliminaries Tuesday afternoon at Central Lanes. Cheng was tied with team mate Hung Kun-Yi for fourth place with 1209. Cheng earned the fourth and final spot to advance to the playoffs due to the higher last game (203 to 196).
The No. 1 and No. 2 seed, however, went to local bowler Manny Tagle and Choi Io Fai, Macau, who led the 36-player field from six countries - Chinese Taipei, Guam Japan, Korea, Macau and Saipan - with 1307 and 1251, respectively.
In the semifinals, Tagle fell to Cheng, 168-186, while Choi was eliminated by Yang, 161-190. Cheng earned the silver medal and Tagle and Choi shared the bronze.
