Kim Yeon-Ju , Shin Bo-Hyun, Baek Seung-Ja and Kim Moon-Jeong finished the Girls Team preliminaries at the World Youth Championships in Finland with a huge 882 game to earn Korea it's fourth top seed position for the playoffs in the fifth event.

The Koreans (pictured right), who started the day in second place, rolled games of 869, 825 and 882 on long oil for the highest 3-game series of the event, 2576, which helped the team to finish atop the field of 22 teams with 5024 pinfall total and an average of 209.33.

Bo-Hyun led the team with 1296 and was followed by Moon-Jeong (1271), Seung-Ja (1237) and Yeon-Ju (1220). Korea will face No. 4 England in Saturday's semifinals, while No. 2 Singapore takes on No. 3 Malaysia. Her 1271 series helped Kim Moon-Jeong to win the gold medal in All Events (combined results from Singles, Doubles and Team event) with 3922 pinfall total and an average of 217.89 for 18 games. All four Koreans made the cut to the Masters.

Korea is the first multiple gold medal winner of the Championships. The latest World Youth champions are:

• Girls Singles - Kim Yeon-Ju, Korea

• Girls Doubles - Colombia (Laura Fonnegra & Maria Jose Rodriguez)
• Boys Doubles - United States (Craig Hanson & Andrew Koff)
• Girls All Events - Kim Moon-Jeong, Korea

Singapore's Daphne Tan, New Hui Fen, Shayna Ng and Jazreel Tan (picture left) held a 92-pin lead over Korea heading into the final game after starting the day with 869 and 900, but had to settle for second place with 4971 (207.13) behind a 737 last game.

Shayna Ng led the team with the field-best individual series of 1338 to finish tied with teammate Jazreel Tan for 4th place in All Events with 3818. Tan was seeded 4th and Ng 5th due to the higher last game in the team event, 180 to 152

Overnight leader Malaysia with Siti Safiyah, Fatin Syazliana, Jaqueline Sijore and Sin Li Jane (pictured right) had thee sub-800 games on the long oil conditioning to fall two spots to third place with 4844 (201.83). Sin Li Jane carried the team with a 1336 effort.

England beat out Latvia for the fourth and last spot in the playoffs by mere four pins. Sarah Overall, Rachel Cox, Danielle Hopcroft and Hayley White sandwiched a huge 883 game between 791 and 747 to land in 4th place with 4774 (198.92). White, who led the team with 1286, moved into second place in All Events to claim the silver medal with 3905 (216.94).

Latvia's Maria Tkachenko, Adina Kindzule, Elizabete Varava, Diana Zavjalova, finished their series with an 813 game but missed the playoffs by four pins to land in 5th place with 4770 (198.75). Zavjalova led the team with 1243 and was consoled with the bronze medal in All Events with 3899 (216.61).

The girls from the United States, who started the day in third place, slipped all the way out of the medals to 11th place due to games of 713 and 696 but closed out with 868 to finish in 7th place with 4737 (197.38). Due to that game Jennifer Boisselle (248) and Christine Bator grabbed the last two spots to advance to the Masters with 3704 and 3694 (205.22).

The top 4 teams advance to the playoffs scheduled to begin on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. local time. The top 16 girls from the All Events standings advance to best-of-five games Masters match play which will conclude the 11th World Youth Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

Besides the four Koreans and the two U.S. girls, Singapore is the only country that brought two players into the Masters. The other eight players are from Colombia, England, Indonesia, Latvia, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands and Sweden.
