Finland leads Trios Squad 2 to move into 6th place at Men's World Championships

No changes atop the leaderboard in Trios preliminaries

2010MWCJahiSalonenUotila.jpg 2010MWCONeillJonesBarnes.jpg Finns Joonas Jähi, Petteri Salonen and Pasi Uotila (pictured left, l-r) put together an 1890 three game series on the 45-foot WTBA Mexico City lane conditioning pattern to lead the second of three squads en route to move into 6th place on the leaderboard in the preliminaries of the Trios event at the Men's World Championships in Germany.

Thailand's Somjed Kusonphitak, Dechochai Tinjiratip and Yannaphon Larp-apharat were mere one pin behind to sit in 6th place overall with 1889. The second trio of the United States, Bill O'Neill, Tommy Jones and Chris Barnes (right), were another four pins behind the Thais to overtake 8th place with 1885 (209.44).

Squad 1 leaders Alex Liew, Syafiq Ridhwan and Aaron Kong (right, l-r) , Malaysia, remained unchallenged and held on to the lead with 1964 3-game total or an average of 218.22.

Trailing the Malaysians by mere eight pins are Italians Massimo Pirozzi, Mauro Rampi and Marco Reviglio, at 1956, with Team USA's Patrick Allen, Rhino Page and Wes Malott in third at 1930.

Rounding out the top 4 are Cheng Hsing-Chao, Hung Kun-Yi and Wu Hao-Ming, Chinese Taipei, with 1923 (213.67). Koreans Choi Bok-Eum, Jang Dong-Chul and Cho Young-Seon maintained fifth place with 1897.

Squads 1 and 2 are done for today and will return on Wednesday for the final 3-game block on the longer oil pattern.

The field was split into three squads who will bowl two 3-game series, one each on the 38-foot Atlanta (Tuesday) and 45-foot Mexico City (Wednesday) oil pattern. The top four trios after 6 games will advance to the playoffs starting on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CET (2 p.m. EST).

The 2010 WTBA World Men's Championships will run through Aug. 21st. Players will compete for medals in six events - Singles, Doubles, Trios, five-player Team, All Events and Masters match play.

Bowlingdigital.com will provide live streaming of the semifinals, finals and award ceremonies of each event.
