Zulmazran Zulkifli rips off second win in a row on Asian Bowling Federation Tour
05/09/06
Zulmazran Zulkifli of Malaysia won his second consecutive ABF Tour title and his fifth career when he defeated local favorite Fadhel Al Mousawi, 236-222, in the championship match of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Kuwait leg.
Mousawi (right) thrilled the audience in his second-round match against Rakan Al Amiri, when he sent his compatriot packing, 300-240, to become just the second player in the ABF Tour history to achieve perfection in the single-elimination finals.
The top 16 players of the Kuwait Open advanced to the fourth leg of the 2006 ABF Tour at Cosmo Bowling in Kuwait City. As still only Asian bowlers are allowed to participate in the ABF Tour, top 16 finishers Osku Palermaa, Jari Ratia and Pasi Uotila (all of Finland) were eliminated from the single-elimination brackets.
The 2006 Asian Bowling Federation Tour consist of eight tournaments and concludes with the Tournament of Champions in Jakarta, Indonesia in January 2007. The Finns will get it over as there was no prize money at stakes in Kuwait, like in most of the 2006 ABF Tour events.
However the Finns weren't the only players sidelined in the Kuwait leg. As in the Qatar leg earlier this year, there was no women's competition in Kuwait. The Tour will remain in the Arabic countries for one more tournament as they head to Bahrain, June 2.
