2011ABFT07HeeKarYenRyanLalisang.jpgLocal favorite Ryan Lalisang and Hee Kar Yen (pictured r-l) of Malaysia captured the men's and women's title in the final event of the 2011 Asian Bowling Federation Tour Tuesday at Jaya Ancol bowling center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Lalisang, who has won the season-ending 2009 ABF Tour Tournament of Champions, finished the 9th Indonesia Open, the qualifying event for the ABF Tour Indonesia leg, in 15th place.

After defeating Hassan Al Zaabi, UAE, in the Round of 16 in one-game single-elimination format, 209-189, the Indonesian ousted Indonesian Open third and second place finishers, Shaker Al Hassan, UAE, 265-231 and Basel Al Anzi, Kuwait, 207-190, to bowl Badin Lertpirlyasakulkit of Thailand for the title.

2011ABFT07RyanLalisangBadinL.jpgBadin (right), who eliminated Mohamed Al Zaidan, Kuwait, 179-177; Wicky Yeung, Hong Kong, 205-183; and compatriot Surasak Manuwong, 239-218, in the previous rounds, fell behind early in the title match as Lalisang opened the match with six consecutive strikes and never looked back. Lalisang (l.) wrapped up his first international title on home turf with a 230-203 victory.

2011KOWuSiuHong.jpgWith the 75 ranking points for his victory, Lalisang almost won the 2011 ABF Tour Men's ranking finishing in second place with 165 points. Wu Siu Hong (pictured left), Hong Kong, who went out in the opening round against Al Hassan, 216-214, secured first place with 172 pints. Al-Anzi was third with 140 and Badin fourth with 137 points.

In the women's division, Indonesia's Sharon Limansantoso was looking to improve on a second-place finish in the Hong Kong leg last week.

Limansantoso, who finished in 10th place in the Indonesian Open, topped Elsa Maris, Indonesia, 215-191; Milki Ng, Hong Kong, 234-165 and Novie Phang, Indonesia, 220-201 to earn a shot at the title against Hee Kar Yen.

The Malaysian easily won her first three matches defeating Puteri Astari, Indonesia, 209-179; Shinta Noen, Indonesia, 192-123; and Angkana Netvriseth, Thailand, 169-146, on her way to the title match.

2011ABFT07SharonLimansantosoHeeKarYen.jpgLimansantoso (right photo, left) finished her game with three strikes to force Kar Yen to strike on her first ball to win the title. The Malaysian got a single-pin spare and a strike on the fill ball to force a two-frame roll-off, 198-198.

Kar Yen (right) got another spare in the first frame while Limansantoso struck again. The Malaysian doubles in the second frame and added seven pins to put pressure on the Indonesian. When Limansantoso failed to strike on her next shot, she handed the title to Hee Kar Yen, who won her first ABF Tour title with a 47-39 win in roll-off, while Limansantoso had to settle for second place again.

With the 60 points for her second consecutive runner-up finish, however, Sharon Limansantoso, led the 2011 ABF Tour women's rankings with 120 points with Hee Kar Yen in second place with 106,5 and Hong Kong's Chan Shuk Han and Milki Ng tie for third place with 96.

The top 16 men and top 16 women in the 2011 ABF Tour rankings qualified for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions in 2012 (dates and venue tbd).
