PBA announces 2007 Senior Tour Schedule

Season will include minimum of 12 events

PBA1958Logo_small.jpg The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced today the schedule for the 2007 PBA Senior Tour season. The 2007 PBA Senior Tour is currently slated to include 12 events, which includes eight standard events, two Major events, the return of the "Ladies & Legends" event and a new season-ending Dick Weber Invitational.

Reyes made history by firing the 17th televised 300 game in the 47-year history of the Tour in the semifinals Sunday at Taylor Lanes, then defeated Wes Malott, 255-238, for his first career title.

Gene Vincent awarded Commissioner's Exemption

Will compete in the 2006 Lake County Indiana Classic

Vincent, who resides in Decatur, Ill., has been a PBA member since 2002 and competes full-time on the PBA Senior Tour.

This week's event features round robin match play rather than single elimination match play, one of five standard events to feature the classic format this season.

PBA announces 2006-07 Skills Challenge Format

Eight teams of two bowlers to compete for this season's title

PBA1958Logo_small.jpg The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced today the format for the 2006-07 PBA Skills Challenge that will take place throughout the 2006-07 Denny's PBA Tour season. This season's Skill Challenge will feature a new format from the previous two seasons, which featured individuals competing in a bracket-format competition. This season, bowlers will break into eight teams of two bowlers each.

Kelly Kulick and Billy Oatman set to make history

Two bowlers will be making history this season – Kelly Kulick as the Tour's first-ever exempt female and Billy Oatman as the Tour's first African-American exempt bowler. The 2006-07 campaign kicks off on U.S. soil Oct. 22-29 with the season's first of four Major events, the USBC Masters in Milwaukee, Wis.

PBA's Fred Schreyer announces that prize funds will be reduced 20 percent for the upcoming season By Dick Evans

Regional and Senior Programs will not be impacted

Fred_Schreyer_5719.jpg As expected, the loss of about $30 million over the past six years will result in reduced prize funds for the 2006-07 Denny's Professional Bowlers Association tour. Fred Schreyer, Commissioner and CEO of the PBA, made the announcement Wednesday during a conference call from PBA headquarters in Seattle. He also revealed that no cuts will be made in the Regional and Senior tour programs.

By winning his 42nd PBA Tour title, Williams broke Earl Anthony’s all-time Tour titles record. Williams defeated Weber in the title match of the Denny’s World Championship last March to tie Anthony (right, archive picture) with 41 titles.

What's being done to revive the PWBA Tour?

It's hard to believe but more than three years have gone by since the Professional Women's Bowling Assn. Tour went broke. And what's being done to revive the Tour? Nothing. National Bowling Week will be held from August 26 to September 1.
