67th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open returns to Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis

Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind. (Feb. 22-28, 2010)

1991PBAUSOpenPeteWeberEagleCrash_small.jpgAfter a 14-year absence, the 67th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open is returning to Indianapolis Feb. 21-28 where it will be hosted by Woodland Bowl – an 80-lane bowling center which has played a prominent role in the sport's colorful history for two decades. In 1991, who can ever forget Pete Weber's  near-perfect 289-184 U.S. Open victory over Mark Thayer – after which Weber hoisted the "eagle" trophy over his head only to watch it crash to the floor (pictured left) and explode into pieces?

Kelly Kulick's long, uncertain road into the history books

By Gianmarc Manzione, USBC Communications

200910PBA10KellyKulick6_small.jpgIt is anyone's guess what exactly went through Kelly Kulick's mind the moment she stood on the approach at Red Rock Lanes in Vegas last Sunday with one strike standing between herself and history. Maybe she heard those tearful phone calls with her mother a few years ago during a difficult season as the first woman ever to obtain an exemption on the men's PBA Tour. Maybe she grinned somewhere inside herself at the thought she had last week of leaving bowling behind for culinary school.
