Familiar faces atop the American Rankings

PABCONLogo.jpgSince the 2006 ranking season, the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON), formerly the WTBA American Zone, is divided geographically into five regions, North, Central, Caribbean, South 1 and South 2. Points were given in the respective National Championships, the Tournament of The Americas, Bolivarian Games, Concecabol, PABCON Championships and the Women's World Championships.

Hernandez, Marcano win American Zone Ranking Final 2009

2009PCRFAliciaMarcano_small.jpg 2007PITArturoHernandez_small.jpg After three days of competition, Venezuela's Arturo Hernandez (r.) and Alicia Marcano (l.) emerged as the winners in the men's and women's division of the American Zone Ranking Final 2009 at Cibao Bowling Center in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. Hernandez, who finished with 5208 24-game total and an average of 217.00, overtook the lead in the men's division in the final game. Marcano's 5254, an average of 218.92, was the highest total of all 57 competitors, men and women. The top 8 players in each division qualified for the 2009 World Ranking Masters in Naples, Italy, from April 27 through May 3, 2009.

Buffa, Marcano in pole position in American Zone Ranking Final after Day Two

2008CTBCMarkBuffa2_small.jpg 2009PCRFAliciaMarcano_small.jpg Canadian Mark Buffa (l.) rolled a 1747 8-game series on the long oil pattern on Friday to move into the lead after two out of three blocks in the American Zone Ranking Final. Buffa, who had 1751 on the short pattern on Thursday, leads the 36-player men's division with 3498 pinfall total and an average of 218.63 over 16 games. Alicia Marcano (r.) held on to the lead in the women's division with 3495 pinfall total (218.44). The Venezuelan national team member felled 1656 pins on Friday and was one of just three players in the 21-player field, who managed a 200-plus average on the 43ft. long pattern.

Venezuelan bowlers lead American Zone Ranking Final after Day One

2009PCRFRafaelMedina_small.jpg 2009PCRFAliciaMarcano_small.jpg Rafael Medina (l.) and Alicia Marcano (r.), both Venezuela, took the lead in the American Zone Ranking Final after the first block of eight games on the short pattern on Thursday. Medina had a slow start with 188 but finished with with 249, 268, 242 and 259 (1018) to take the lead in the men's division with 1890 pinfall total and an average of 236.25. In the women's division, Marcano used a pair of 257s for a 1839 series (229.80). The 36 men and 21 women return on Friday for the second block on long oil.

American Zone Ranking Final 2009 gets underway in Santiago de los Caballeros

2009PCRFLogo_small.jpg The American Zone Ranking Final 2009 will end the 2008 Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) ranking season. The tournament will be held at Cibao Bowling Center in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. The 2nd Minister of Sports, Guillermo Ottenwalder (pictured right), was the Guest of Honor representing the Government of the Dominican Republic at the Opening Ceremonieson Wednesday. Manuel "Tuto" Fernandez from the Dominican Bowling Federation gave the welcome speech to the 58 participants - 37 men and 21 women - from 14 countries.

PABCON announces final standings of the 2008 regional rankings

Since 2006 ranking season, the PABCON, formerly the WTBA American Zone, is divided geographically into five regions, North, Central, Caribbean, South 1 and South 2. The top 12 men and the top 12 women from each of the five regions qualified for the "American Zone Ranking Final" to be held from February 18-22, 2009 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.

Guerra, Legnani win 2007-08 PABCON Ranking Final

2007BWCAumiGuerra2_small.jpg Aumi Guerra, Dominican Republic and Lucas Legnani, Argentina won the women's and men's 2007-08 PABCON Ranking Final at Galaxy Bowling in San Salvador, El Salvador. Guerra led the 23 women with 4897 pinfall total and an average of 204.04 for 24 games on three different lane condation. Legnani played in his own league and cruised to victory with 5282 (220.08). The top 8 men and women qualified for the 2008 World Ranking Masters to be held from April 30 through May 6, 2008 at Senayan Bowling Sportainment Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

2007 American Zone Ranking Final to be held in San Salvador

PABCONLogo.jpg The National Bowling Federation of El Salvador (FESABOL) will host the Pan-American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) "American Zone Ranking Final" from February 24-28, 2008 at Galaxa Bowling in San Salvador. The top 12 men and the 12 women from each of the five PABCON ranking regions (North, Central, Caribbean, South 1 and 2) will compete for one of the eight spots for the for the 2008 World Ranking Masters in Jakarta, Indonesia.
