All bowling on the same squad, two bowlers rolled perfect games, while a third fell just short and settled for 299.

The team closed out with 1,099 for a 3,308 total to take the Regular Team lead at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships on Saturday.

For the first time in the event's 90-year history, the USBC Women's Championships will be conducted in suburban Charlotte and will feature 8,710 five-player teams - more than 43,000 bowlers - competing for national championships.

College student caps off spring break trip with 298 at USBC Open Championships

2007USBCOCLogo_small.jpg Ruby Jim of Las Vegas came within one ball of adding her to name the short list of women who have recorded a perfect games at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships. The 25-year-old right-hander left only the 6-10 standing on her final shot and finished with 298. Women were first allowed to bowl in the USBC Open Championships in 1994, and only three have achieved perfection on the tournament lanes.

Maryland bowler shoots 299 at USBC Open Championships

2007USBCOCLogo_small.jpg Brian Knauer of Federalsburg, Md., doesn't necessarily think of himself as a superstitious person, but no one could fault him for rethinking that position after he fell one pin short of perfection at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships. Knauer opened his doubles set with 11 consecutive strikes, but a wobbly 8-pin on lane 13 left him with 299 and a pin short of the eighth perfect game of this year's event.

The 24-year-old right hander from Cheyenne, Wyo., was a stubborn 10-pin away from the eighth perfect game of this year's event and settled for 299 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev.

New USBC spokesperson visits headquarters on trip to Milwaukee

"I think I'm in heaven," the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets point guard and newest USBC spokesperson said upon laying eyes on the building's lobby. He was equally in awe when he stepped into USBC's Equipment Specifications facility moments later. "If I was living here, I'd never leave," he said. "I never knew all the stuff on testing was here."

NCAA® grants waiver period for scholarship funds to be transferred into USBC Smart Program

USBC raises more than $1 million to help cure breast cancer

That announcement was made Saturday at the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Annual Meeting when a check for $1,003,000 was presented by USBC to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure during the seventh-annual Meet for the Cure ceremony.

2004 Team Champions back on top at USBC Open Championships

2007USBCOCLogo_small.jpg Three years ago, S & B Pro Shop 1 of Troy, Mich., took home the Regular Team title at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships. On its return trip to the National Bowling Stadium on Thursday afternoon, the group picked up right where it left off. With two new faces, the team regained its stride and returned to championship form with games of 1,073, 1,103 and 1,104 for the 3,280 high score.

United States Bowling Congress revives U.S. Women's Open

Unique format includes taped preliminary and live ESPN-televised events

One of the most prestigious events in bowling will return after a four-year absence under the banner of the United States Bowling Congress. The announcement was made at USBC's Convention in Nashville, Tenn. on Friday.
