World Tenpin Bowling Association creates John Davis Memorial Award

The WTBA John Davis Memorial Award will recognize individuals who have selflessly devoted their time and resources to the sport of bowling over a significant period of time.

Israel Bowling Federation announces teams for 2013 World Championships in August

2013WCTeamIsrael_small.jpg The Israel Bowling Federation has announced the men's and women's team roster for the 2013 combined World Championships in suburban Las Vegas in August. As in the past years in Israel, three of the six players in each gender were seeded based on their performance in the Men's and Women's European Championships. The other three spots were at stake in a qualifying tournament, which was held in Haifa and Rishon Letzion last weekend.

John Davis, the founder of the Kegel Company, was an industry icon, a visionary and pioneer in the creation of bowling products and services that promote fair competition on a consistent playing field. He passed away on Friday morning January 25. He was 64.

Commencing on Sunday, February 24, bowlers from every corner of the Commonwealth will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals at the VI Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship. The week-long program of Singles, Doubles and Teams competition will culminate on March 2-3 with the Masters event.

Kegel founder and CEO, John Davis, passes away

It is with great sadness that Kegel has announced that its founder and CEO, John M. Davis passed away at the age of 64 this morning at his home in Winter Haven, Florida. John was a very generous and compassionate man, who absolutely loved the sport of bowling. John leaves behind a legacy that will impact the sport of bowling and those who knew him forever. He will be sadly missed by his mother, wife, four brothers, three children, and six grandchildren, along with his extended family at Kegel and throughout the bowling industry.

Tommy Jones wins back-to-back titles in International Bowling Championships

Claims his 14th career PBA title, the third in Japan, and takes home six million Yen

2013IBCMensChampionTommyJones_small.jpgIn a title match between two PBA Player of the Year, Tommy Jones (l.) defeated Sean Rash, 209-204, to defend his title in the International Bowling Championships 2013 supported by DHC en route to win the six million Yen top prize. It was the 14th career PBA title, the fourth in Japan, and another big payday for Jones, who earned the PBA Player of the Year Award for 2005-06 after leading the Tour with $301,700, the third-highest single season earnings of all-time.

Shayna Ng wins women's title and 6,000,000 Yen at International Bowling Championships

2013IBCWomensChampionShaynaNg_small.jpgShayna Ng of Singapore defeated Kelly Kulick of the United States, 248-201, in the final showdown of the arena-style Eliminator finals at Inazawa Futsal Stadium in Inazawa City, Japan, to win the women's title and six million Yen of the International Bowling Championships 2013 supported by DHC. It was the second consecutive victory in the IBC for a Singaporean women after Ng's team mate on the national team, Cherie Tan, has won the 2012 event.

Japanese women, international men win Trios Shoot-out at International Bowling Championships

2013IBCTVSetup03_small.jpgThe best three local bowlers and the best three international bowlers outside the top five in the International Bowling Championships 2013 qualified for a Trios shoot-out in Baker format Saturday morning at Inazawa Futsal Stadium. The Japanese women beat the international team for the second year in the row, 204-170. The international men took revenge defeating the Japanese, 245-193. The winners split 200,000 Yen, while the second-place team received 100,000 Yen.

Ng meets Liz Johnson (USA), Zandra Aziela (MAS), Kelly Kulick (USA) and Miki Nishimura (JPN), who was seeded fifth as no local women finished in the top 5.

The WBT is made up of various events around the world and players earn points based on how they finish in each event. The current points system is based on a continuous two-year cycle, so points include some events from 2011 and all events from 2012 and 2013.

European Youth Champion from Sweden defeats three-time Ballmaster champion Pasi Uotila to become the youngest Ballmaster winner the youngest player ever to win an EBT title

Svensson, who won the gold medal in Masters at the 2012 European Youth Championships, became the youngest player ever to win an EBT title and is also the youngest Ballmaster champion in the 43-year history of the prestigious event.
