First 300-game shooter Guay returns to Mexico for 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup

Jack Guay of Canada will take part in the
44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in November returning to Hermosillo, Mexico, the city where he became the first player in the history of the event to hit a perfect game in 1994. Guay, right, repeated that feat the following year in Sao Paolo, Brazil, as well as finishing joint fifth in Singapore in 2004. As usual, a number of players will be returning to the Bowling World Cup. So far, 70 countries have officially entered. Most have still to hold their elimination competitions to determine their participants.

Canadian bowlers ready for QubicaAMF BWC in Mexico

Jack Guay of Calgary, Province of Alberta and
Jennifer Park from Nanaimo, British Columbia won the BWC National Finals conducted by the Bowling Proprietors Association of Canada (BPAC). The National finals were held on the 48 lanes of Planet Bowl in Toronto, Province of Ontario, on March 15 and 16. The 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will be held November 7-15 in Hermosillo, Mexico in a new 32 AMF lane "BOL 300" to be inaugurated in early summer.

44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup:
Bol 300, Hermosillo, Mexico - 7 to 15th November 2008. The state of the art 32-lane Bol 300 is due to open in early summer. It has the latest QubicaAMF bowling equipment and prides itself in offering wonderful facilities including great spectator viewing and an excellent restaurant. All eligible countries are invited to send one man and one woman to represent them in the 44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup.

44th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup to be held in Mexico

QubicaAMF has announced that the
44th Bowling World Cup will be held in Hermosillo, Mexico, from 7th to 15th November 2008. The world's most prestigious annual bowling tournament will be held in a brand new 32-lane center, which will be opening in June. This will mark a record fifth time that the Bowling World Cup will be staged in Mexico.

Jason Belmonte in the decisive game, 221-181, to win the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup at Continent Bowling Center in St. Petersburg, Russia. The 33-year-old right-hander ended an almost 12-year U.S. drought in the men's division at the World Cup with a two-games-to-one victory over Belmonte, who finished second after leading the event since day one qualifying. Hoffman, seeded second, swept No. 3 seeded
Andres Gomez in the opening match of the three-player shootout, 2-0.

Lee Sun Hee, Korea, in game one 280-201 and secure the victory with a 247-226 win in game two. In the opening match, Lee, 36, edged 18-year-old

The stepladder finals will be contested in best-of-three game format. Hoffman will take on Gomez in the opening match. The winner will bowl Belmonte for the title.

Lee Sun Hee (right), Korea, emerged as the top 3 women bowlers in the match play round of 8 in the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. The live TV stepladder finals will be contested in best-of-three game format Saturday, Nov. 10 and start at 10 a.m. with the ladies final. The men will follow at 2 p.m. In the opening match, Hulsch will bowl Lee for the right to challenge Putney for the title. Australia with Putney and men's leader Jason Belmonte have already secured the country title.

The top 24 women - 12 from Europe and six each from Asia and America - took on the lanes at Continent Bowling Center in St. Petersburg, Russia for another eight game block to cut to the top 8 players in the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Qualifying leader

Lee Sun Hee (right), Korea traded the lead almost every game. When the dust had settled, Van der Tol had regained the lead and will be the top seed for round robin match play on Friday.

Belmonte wins men's qualifying at QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in St. Petersburg
Suartz, Salonen, Schmidt move into top 8 in final Squad B
Jason Belmonte from Australia remained unchallenged in the final qualifying squad and will lead the top 24 men into the second round in the 43rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup at Continent Bowling Center in St. Petersburg, Russia. Belmonte had six-game blocks of 1452, 1374, 1380 and 1400 to lead the field of 88 players with 5606 and an average of 233,58. Opposite to the previous years, the pinfall will be carried forward until the 3-player stepladder final. No complaint from Belmonte.He led the qualifying in the 2004 World Cup in Singapore but fell to eventual winner, Kai Virtanen, in the first round of the single-elimination finals to finish fifth.

The Dutch lefty rolled a 1402 series in the fourth and final qualifying round to jump from 9th to first with a 5179 24-game total and an average of 215.79. Another lefty,

Helen Johnsson, Sweden, needed a 235 to earn the top spot but had to settle for third with 5140 behind a 195 in the final game.

Jason Belmonte (l.), the High Roller champion from Australia, rolled games of 245, 190, 206, 289, 253 and 197 to lead the men's QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia, for the third consecutive day. The two-hander, who is going to be married in eleven days, added a 1380 series to the 1452 from day one and the 1374 from day two for a 4206 18-game total and an average of 233.67.
Glenn Morten Pedersen (r.), Norway, finished Squad A with back-to-back 279 games and a 1469 series to jump into second place with 4119.
