Huiden, Jussila win Girls and Boys Masters title in 21st European Youth Championships
Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland (March 15-24, 2008)
Stephanie Huijden defeated five opponents including defending champion Bianca Wiekeraad, both Netherlands, and the top 3 from All Events en route to claim the Girls Masters title in 21st European Youth Championships. In the title match, Huijden topped No. 3 seed, Emma Sandblom, Sweden, 221-212 in the deciding game, for a two-games-to-one victory. In the boys title match, No. 11
Perttu Jussila, Finland swept No. 2 Arturs Levikins, Latvia, who rolled a perfect game in Round Two, 2-0. After a 209-177 in game #1, Jussila cruised to the title with a 279-254 strike fest.

Dutch Girls sweep Team and All Events gold in European Youth Championships
Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland (March 15-24, 2008)

The
Dutch "Meisjes" girls Bianca Wiekeraad, Ilona De Kuijer, Chantal Jacobs, Stephanie Huijden and Carmen Haandrikman defended the team title at the 21st European Youth Championships with 6288 six-game total and an average of 209.60.
England (6130) was second and
Sweden (6104) third.
Carmen Haandrikman felled 3978 pins over 18 games (Doubles, Trios and Team) to win the gold medal in All Events with a 221 average.
Diana Zavjalova, Latvia, took the silver medal with 3886, while
Emma Sandblom beat out Joline Planefors Persson, both Sweden, fort he bronze due to the higher last game after both tied at 3850. Not a very sportsman-like rule from the ETBF, especially in youth bowling.

Gold for Norway and Denmark in Boys Division at European Youth Championships
Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland (March 15-24, 2008)
Norwegians Christer Jakobsen, Alexander Halvorsen, Kim Andrè H Hovde, Simen S Jensen and Andrè L Hansen claimed the gold medal in the Boys 5-player team event of the 21st European Youth Championships with 6729 six-game total (224.30). Silver went to
Finland (6528) and
Sweden (6442) took the bronze.
Thomas Larsen, Denmark averaged 228.06 for 18 games (4105) to win the title in All Events.
Arturs Levikins, Latvia, finished second with 4089 and
Riku-Petteri Kivelä, Finland, third with 4082.

Swedish girls soar to victory in Trios event at 21st European Youth Championships

Sandra Andersson and
Emma Sandblom came from behind to win the gold medal in the Girl's Trios event in the 21st European Youth Championships. The Swedes, who started the second 3-game block on Thursday in fourth place, 113 pins off the pace for the gold medal, tossed games of 650, 631 and 689 (1970) to win the title with 3883 six-game total, an average of 215.72. Dutch Bianca Wiekeraad, Ilona De Kuijer and Stephanie Huijden earned silver with 3774, while Israel with Roni Aharonovich, Mor Dayan and Liat Vizenfeld took bronze with 3728.

Sweden wins second gold in Boys Trios in European Youth Championships

Joachim Karlsson and
Kristoffer Hagelberg teamed with
Johan Helldén to win the second gold medal for Sweden in the Boys Trios event of the 21st European Youth Championships at Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland. The Swedes, who were in second place after the first 3-game block (2013) overtook previous leader Denmark with a 1903 series to cruise to the title with 3916 pinfall total and an average of 217.56. Riku-Petteri Kivelä, Perttu Jussila and 2Tony Ranta, Finland, took the silver with 3890, while Danes Anders Lousdal, Kasper Walther and Thomas Larsen secured the bronze medal with 3857.

Anders Lousdal led the way with 2036 pinfall total, an average of 226.22. Doubles champion Joachim Karlsson and Kristoffer Hagelberg teamed with Johan Helldén to sit in second place with 2013 (223.67). Jord van Weeren, Xandel van Mazijk and Santino Jas, Netherlands, are a distant third with 1932.

Israel leads Girl's Trios event after three of six games

Mor Dayan from Israel rolled games of 652, 662 and 716 to lead the Girl's Trios event at the 21st European Youth Championships after 3 of 6 games with 2030 and an average of 225.56. Trailing the Israelis by 81 pins to sit in second place was Germany with Shirley Lazar, Cynthia Kleyda and Melanie Birlinger (1949). Third place belongs to the host country, Finland. with 1917.

Consistency earns Swedish boys gold medal in Doubles at European Youth Championships

Consistency was the key for the Swedish success in the Boys Doubles in the 21st European Youth Championships at Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland.
Joachim Karlsson and
Kristoffer Hagelberg had six-game series of 1320 (220.00) and 1334 (222.33) en route to win the gold medal with 2654 pinfall total and an average of 221.17. The Swedes had 3-game team series of 1337 and 1317 to beat Danes
Kasper Walther and
Thomas Larsen by 9 pins and
Juuso Huhtiranta and
Riku-Petteri Kivelä by 14 pins.

Latvian girls set four records to start European Youth Championships with victory in Doubles

Marija Tkacenko from Latvia set three Doubles and one Individual championship record in the 21st European Youth Championships en route to win the gold medal in Girls Doubles with 2689 six-game total and an average of 224.08. Trailing the winners by 120 pins to finish second was defending EYC Masters champion Bianca Wiekeraad (1289) and Ilona De Kuijer (1280), Netherlands, with 2569 (214.08). Third place went to Daria Pajak (1349) and Marta Michalus (1173), Poland, with 2522 (210.17).

21st European Youth Championships to be held on Easter 2008
Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland (March 15-24, 2008)

The
21st European Youth Championships will be the first international event on the 2008 European Tenpin Bowling Federation calendar. As usual the annual event will be held on Easter. Maximum six girls and six boys of each ETBF member federation, who must not reach the age of 19 years until 31 August 2008, will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters at the famous Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland from March 15-24. All games will be played on the same lane condition.
