Another clean sweep for The Philippines in ABF Tour; Layoso earns second title in two days

2008ABFT05ApplePosadas_small.jpg 2008ABFT05BenshirLayoso_small.jpg Philippine Open Masters champion Benshir Layoso and Apple Posadas posted bog scores to win the fifth stop of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour at SM Mall of Asia Bowling Center in Pasay City, Philippines. Layoso, who sealed the victory in the Open Saturday with back-to-back 260s, rolled games of 238, 278 and 277 in his first three rounds and topped compatriot Chester King in the title match, 239-234. Posadas saved her best for the last game, when she flew past fellow countrywoman Lovella Catalan, 258-199, to win the women's title.

Al-Shafi, Chen claim the titles ABF Tour Hong Kong leg

On the women's side, Chen Dongdong (right) from China held off local favorite Vanessa Fung, Hong Kong, 245-214, to secure the women's title. The event was the fourth leg of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour.

Lalisang defends his title at ABF Tour Kuwait leg

Cozmo Bowling Center in Kuwait City, Kuwait (April 29, 2008)

2008ABFT03RyanLalisang_small.jpg Ryan Lalisang of Indonesia defeated Hussain Al-Suwaidi, 217-204, in the title match of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Kuwait leg, to successfully defend his title at Cozmo Bowling Center in Kuwait City. In the semi-final, Lalisang eliminated Kuwait Open champion Jason Belmonte, Australia, in a re-match of last year's final, 222-208. In the other semi-final, Al-Suwaidi sidelined Kuwaiti Khaled Al-Dubyyan, 207-204. The fourth stop of the ABF Tour will be held in Hong Kong on June 8.

Different tournament, same outcome: Al-Hassan beats Oqab again to win ABF Tour Saudi Arabia leg

2008KSAShakerAlHassan3_small.jpg 2008KSANaifOqab_small.jpg After finishing 1, 2 in the 2nd Kingdom International Open winner Shaker Al-Hassan (left) and runner-up Naif Oqab met for a re-match in the finals of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour Saudi Arabia leg once again at Universal Bowling Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Al-Hassan, who won the Open and $30,000, 224-208, remained undefeated as he flew past his compatriot, 245-215, to win the title and 75 ranking points, but no prize money.

Kusonpithak defends his title; wins ABF Tour season opening event in Thailand

Zhang Yun Hong wins first career ABF Tour title in women's division

2008ABFT01Champions_small.jpg Defending champion Somjed Kusonpithak, Thailand, won back-to-back Asian Bowling Federation Tour titles in Thailand when he defeated fellow-countryman Pasut Punsanthaveekul in the men's title match of the 2008 season opener, 201-192. Zhang Yun Hong, China, captured her first career victory at S.F. Strike Bowl in Ngamwongwan, Thailand, with a 199-168 win over 2007 Asian and ABF Tour Ranking champion Kim Eun Jung, Korea.
